announced that Robert L. White Jr.
has completed the company’s Sales
Training course which was held at
the Allstate Field Training Center in
Atlanta.
Mr. White is a native of Cleve
land County; he iaa 1989graduate of
Kings Mountain High School and a
1973 graduate of the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He
holds a B'.S. degree in business ad
■ ministration. A

Board of Directors-of Mecklenburg
Day Services, Charlotte; Sugaw
Creek Racquet Chib, and a member
of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.

Dies in New York
Charlotte native Mrs. Geraldine
Thomas died Friday in Roosevelt,
N Y Btrs. Thomas was a resident of
Roosevelt.
A noted gospel singer. Bin.
Roosevelt recorded two albums, the
last of which included a number she
wrote. Singing since, the age of four,
Bin. Thomas was lead singer in
several gospel groups, directed a
52-voice choir for several yeen, was
on the board of dirScton of. the
National Conventions of Gospel
Choruses, and was named “Miss
Soft Voice of Gospel."
She was an accomplished musi
cian and played both piano and
organ.
Mrs. Thomas had a radio gospel '
program, appeared in the Apollo
Theatre, and was a guest an the
"Mike Douglas Show,"
As a child in Charlotte, Bln.
Thomas attended Fairview Homes
kindergarten before moving to New
York. She had a degree In socio
logy from .Hofstra University and
was a senior counselor with the New
York Labor Department Wdrk fo. j

Mn. Thomas is survived by a
daughter, Tracy Thomas, of Roose-1
velt; father, Gerald Grigg of
Washington; mother, Sarah McGill
of Roosevelt; grandmother, Minnie
Gaddy of Charlotte; and other
Charlotte relatives.
