", Shields has, for the past three i^ears, served as Deputy Director of Engineering. As Deputy, he was responsible for three divl- Isions within the department: jsroject management, transpor tation, and field services. As Di rector, Shields will also be re sponsible for the solid waste management division. Before coming to Mecklenburg County, Shields worked as a De sign Engineer for Duke Power j(1975 - 1986). He holds a mas ter's of engineering degree from ihe University of South Caroll- )ia and a bachelor's degree In civil engineering from North Carolina State University. Before coming to WBT, Earley spent eight years at WMAL Radio In Washington, DC. Her posi tions at WMAL Included promo tions coordinator and account executive.
