Five reelected as Trustees after previous service terms Four members elected for service as Trustees m ■A H. DOUGLAS WHITE H. Douglas Mfhite of Rocky Mount, has served over 25 years on the Board of Trustees including two terms as chairman. He has also served as chairman of the Ex ecutive Committee, and member of the Endowment Committee and Board of Advisors. A Colerain native, White receiv ed the B.S. degree from Wake Forest College. He retired as manager of the Belk Tyler store in Rocky Mount after 33 years management service with the store. White is active in the Rocky Mount First Baptist Church where he is a member and past chairman of the Board of Deacons. He also has served as Sunday School teacher and adult department superintendent and in many other capacities. White has a record of outstan ding service in the Rocky Mount community. He is presently a member of the Evening Lions Club, Elks Club, Kiwanis Golden K Club, Benvenue Country Club and life member of the Salvation Ar my. His service includes past presi dent of the Rocky Mount Chamber of Commerce, United Fund, Mer chant Association, Lions Club, Old Community Chest and past chair man of the Salvation Army Board. After being named the outstan ding Senior Citizen of the Year, 1984-85, by the Rocky Mount Jaycee Women, White went on to win the same award on the state level on Feb. 16, 1985, in Greensboro, by the North Carolina Jaycee Women, Active in service to the han dicapped, White is the winner of the Distinguished Service Award of the North Carolina Association of the Blind in 1965. He won the Rocky Mount Jaycees’ Distinguished Service Award in 1972. White has had a long-time in terest in baseball including playing on two Wake Forest College cham pionship teams. White is married to the former Janet Cartright of Elizabeth City. They have one daughter, Betty Jean White, a Wesleyan College graduate. L. CLEMENT YANCEY L. Clement Yancey is president of Yancey Chevrolet Buick Com pany, Inc., in Oxford. He attended Mars Hill College and graduated with the B. S. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Yancey is serving his second term on the Board of Trustees. He is active in community service and has served as president of the Ox ford Rotary Club, Thomdale Coun try Club, and Granville County Chamber of Commerce. He is director of Planters Corp., Rocky Mount, and a member of the Ox ford Baptist Church, where he is a past chairman of the Board of Deacons. He is married to the former Mary Elizabeth Austin of Green ville. They have one son, Lindsay C. Yancey, Jr., 35. EDWIN L. WILLIAMS Edwin L. Williams of Kinston is returning for his sixth term on the Board of Trustees. He is a member of the First Bap tist Church where he served as chairman of the Church Building Committee and chairman of the Board of Deacons and several church committees. A roofing contractor, Williams is active in the community and has served in the Chamber of Com merce, Industrial Commission, United Way, and Board of Direc tors of the Kiwanis Club. He is married to the former Grace Gunter. Both are Sanford natives. ROBERTO. WHITE Robert C. White of Windsor is a graduate of North Carolina State University with the B. S. He is retired from an L. P. gas dealer ship. White has served three previous terms on the Board of Trustees. A member and deacon at Cashie Baptist Church, White served 22 years as a Windsor commissioner. He was honored as Volunteer Fireman with 30 years of service in Windsor. He is a charter member of the fire department and his hob bies are fishing and hunting. White is married to the former Violet Lassiter of Winton. White has served as a member of the Board of Health and director of the Hope Foundation in Bertie County. SAM E. EWELL, JR. Sam E. Ewell, Jr., is owner of Ewell Ford Sales, Inc., in Enfield. Previously he was a partner in the law firm of Kirk and Ewell, At torneys, in Wendell. Graduate of UNC Ewell is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with the A.B. in political science and the Wake Forest University School of l.aw with the doctor of law degree. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa at the University of North Carolina and a Babcock Scholar and cum laude graduate at Wake Forest. He is a member of Enfield Bap tist Church where he is a deacon and former chairman of the Board of Deacons. He also served in a ni'mber of leadership positions at Wnedell Baptist Church, including deacon chairman, Sunday School teacher and chairman of three church committees. Active in Enfield In Enfield, Ewell is a member of the Industrial Development Team and Lodge No. 447 and a director of the Chamber of Commerce and Peoples Bank and Trust Company. Ewell is married to the former Ixiu Harlow of Littleton. His hob bies are golf, tennis, and "most other sports activities,” he reports. FELIX C. McDANlEL Felix C. McDaniel, a native of Lake Lure, is vice president of finance and treasurer of Americal Corporation, a ladies hosiery manufacturer in Henderson. He previously served as accoun tant, Arthur Young and Company, Cincinnati, Ohio; treasurer, American Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co., Winston-Salem; and vice president for finance, Shoney’s, Inc., Nashville, Tenn. McDaniel is a graduate of Lees- McRae Junior College, Berea Col lege (B.A.), and Indiana Universi ty (MBA). He is a member and past chair man of the Board of Deacons at Henderson First Baptist Church. McDaniel is active in the com munity serving on the Board of Directors of the Henderson Coun try Club and United Way. He is the ACTS Program treasurer and a member of the Rotary Club. His past service includes presi dent of the Henderson Country Club and Lions Club, member of the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and Vance High School Booster Club treasurer, McDaniel is a member of the American Institute of CPA’s and North Carolina Association of CPA’s. At Indiana University he was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and Beta Alpha Psi honorary organizations. He is married to the former Janice C. Mayhall of Chattanooga, Tenn., and they have two children, Stanley, 22, and Brian, 17. His hob bies are golf, skiing and reading. Wrestlers qualify for nationals Chowan qualified five wrestlers for the National Championship which was held in late February in Chicago, 111. Heavyweight Dennis Cannon, who placed first, and second place finishers Tom Elphick, 118; Ted Pitrone, 142; Greg Miller, 158; and Chris Moore, 190, will represent Chowan at the College of DuPage, site of the nationals. Chowan enters the nationals with a 7-3 dual record. REV. DENNIS N. BAZEMORE The Rev. Dennis N. Bazemore is pastor of Chadboum Baptist Church and has served as assistant to the pastor, Lillington Baptist Church, and minister of youth, Murfreesboro Baptist Church. An Ahoskie native, he received his B.A. in religion from Campbell University and Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Within the Columbus Baptist Association, Bazemore has served as Missions Committee chaimnan, 1983-85, and president of the Pastor’s Conference, 1965. He is a weekly columnist for The Colum bus County News and member of the Recreation Committee forhe Chadboum Town Council. For the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, Bazemore has served on the Planning Committee for the N.C. Baptist Assembly and member of the 1985 Committee of Place and Preacher. At Campbell University, he was president of the senior class, member of Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges, and received the Algernon Sidney Sullivan Award. Bazemore has been involved in a number of study and mission tours. He traveled to the Holy Land in 1982 as a seminary student on a study tour. He made three trips to West Virginia to work on the Moun tain State 200 mission project of constructing church buildings. He and his wife, the former Lin da Callis of Ahoskie, traveled to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in March, 1985, on a mission crusuade, preaching revival services in the Baptist church and working with Southern Baptist missionaries. For Campbell University, Bazemore is a class agent for the class of 1977 and a member of the Board of Ministers and Alumni Board of Directors.
