Scott Ainslie, guitarist, gives performance Guitarist Scott Ainslie, visiting artist at Roanoke-Chowan Technical College, performed at Chowan on Nov. 17 in Marks Hall auditorium. His performance was the feature of the monthly Faculty Forum/Lyceum program. Ainslie is currently one of the premiere interpreters of the tradi tional blues and spiritual music of Reverend Gary Davis and Robert Johnson, legendary giants of North Carolina and Mississippi blues, respectively. Contrasting the delicate ragtime guitar style of the eastern Pied mont with the knife-edged bot tleneck slides and heavier beat of the Mississippi Delta, Ainslie br ings to life ^ blues and spiritual music that lies at the heart of the Southem musical experience and that has done so much to shape American popular music. In addition to being a fine blues singer and guitarist, Ainslie has performed extensively in this country and in Europe as a prize winning old-time fiddler and claw hammer banjo player.
