M. Carraway, son of Mr. and Mrs.,
Guy M. Carraway of Merrimon, who
entered the United States Marine
Corps last November, has completed
the basic training course at the Ma
rine Barracks, Parri3 Island, S. C,
and has been transferred to the Sea
School, Norfolk, Va., according to an
an announcement by Captain A. C.
Small, District Marine Corps Recruit
ing Officer, with headquarters at Sa
vannah, Ga.
Upon completion of his initial
training at Parris Island, Carraway
expressed his desire to compete in
examinations for entrance to the
United States Naval Academy at An
napolis in 1938, so on January 26,
1937, he was selected to attend the
Sea School at Norfolk, preparatory
to sea service, a requisite for eligi
