CHURCH COULD TAKE LESSON rSCM POLITICAL PARTIES There is Less Dissatisfaction in Po litical Ranks Declares Director Alien. In the States there over one hundred and fifty distinct church bodies, ranging in membership from eight souls to eleven million, asserts William H. Allen, Direc tor of Bureau of Municipal Re search in The Delineator for March, Only thirteen have a member of over five hundred thousand, and only thirty-two a membership of over one hundi'ed thousand. No one church speaks for more than one-third of the total membership of all churches,: while all church bodies combined claim only three-eights of our population. The only unifying force among all churches is a religious motive that all churches, each church, the chiirch, get from society—from human need. The church, then,, can not take action as a unified whole. We must learn to consider the church ! as made up of a large number of Miss Flossie Loy a student at j churches. Each church, in turn, Winston-Salem, si>ent Saturday j is made up of edifice, services, and Sunday as the guest of her^ minister, communicants,, attend- parents, Mr. and Mrs. W, A. Ijoy.' ants, not-yet-communicants,. not- The condition of Miss Agnes ■ surrounding Elkins, a niece of Senator Elkins, of West Virginia, who shot her self in Kansas City, Mo., last v/eek, is much improved and her recovery is expected. People easily constipated dread the winter. Nothing but hard, course meals. No fruits, no vege table to keep the stomach active. Your best relief, your greatest friend now is Hollister’s Rocky Mountain Tea, the world’s tonic physic. Do it to-night T. H. Stroud. Mrs. M. S. In executing any remedy for social unrest the church must work through churches, and these again thro ugh the above mentioned com ponent elements in each com munity. A t the Presidential election s of 1908 fifteen million adults were able, amicably, to express their differences through only five na tional i>arties. Yet the chureh requires one hundred and fifty- odd parties to compass- the relig ious differences of a mtaeh. small er number of male adults. ^ With in any religious denoniiiiation. there is probably n>ore dissatis faction and Isss agreement than, within any politick party..
