Strikes, ®f even rumors of strikes demor- ^zing to say the least. We are glad to note that our board of Aldermen are taking steps to improve the sanitary con ditions of our town. The Mayor has recently appointed a sanitary committee which means much for the inprovement of existing con ditions. Bad Piece of Road. We have had numerous compl aints from our subscribers and citizens living on the road be- tv/een the Alaipance Battle Ground and Ixw’s Church. We are informed that a part of this road is in a very bad condition and has had no work for a year or more. Now Honorable Board of County Commissioners who pride yourselves on looking after our public highways, see that the proper attention ii given this road and ^ve justice to those whom justice is due. Oii/r people should be as patri otic any in the State and should arrange fora rousing cel ebration on the 4th.
