The officers and teachers of the First Baptist church Sunday school will meet tonight witn ivir. ana mis. T. S. Franklin. Mr. Walter P. Moore has ac cepted a position in the wholesale department of the Burwell & Dunn Company. Miss Corinne Wolfe, who has been quite sick for several days is better today and her friends hope she will soon be well ajrain. Mr. W. R. Alexander, who has been sick at his home on the Providence road, eight miles from the city is re ported improved. Mr. Frank Andrews, the efficient clerk' at Jordan's soda fountain has re signed his position and left today for his home in Gastonia . The Charlotte friends of Dr. W. H. Lilly, of Concord, will be glad to know that he is much better. Dr. Lilly has been ill several weeks. Mr. R. W. Geiger, general southern representative of the Pennsylvania lines with headquarters at Atlanta, Ga., spent today in the. city on busi ness. Rev. J. P. Snipes, of Steele Creek, will begin a meeting today at the Sardis. A. R. P. Church, Rev, R. G. Miller, pastor. The services will ; continue through Sunday. Manager D. L. Reid has had placed over the South Tryon street intersection at the square a hand some sign bearing the dates of the Greater Charlotte Chautauqua. The new cigar store at No. 26 West Trade street opened this morn ing. This stand is the second re cently opened by the Consolidated Cigar Stores Company. First section of the Southern's new train, No. 36, will remain in Charlotte twenty minutes for break fast. This new arrangement was commenced this morning. Rev. W. W. Orr, D. D., will re turn to the city tomorrow from Day ton, O., where he has been attending a convention of the Young People of the United and Associate Reformed Presbyterian Churches. Prof. J. R. Sandifer, of the Fish- burne Military Academy, is in Greens boro for a few days on business con nected with his institution. Mr. Sandifer is a Mecklenburg boy who is well known in the county. Abernathy, a well known citizen of Stanley, died at one of the hospitals in this city yesterday even ing at 7 o'clock. The body was taken this morning to his home at Stanley where the funeral and inter ment will take place this evening. The deceased was 46 years old.
