F opportunities ESPECIALLY FOR YOU The Arts and Science Council is accepting ap plications to the ASC Arts Showcase, an arts and crafts fair which will take place February 3-4, 1979 in the Charlotte Civic Center. The showcase is open to artists and crafts peo ple from North and South Carolina. Artists and groups of artists may apply in any of the following categories: painting, graphics and drawing, sculpture, crafts and photography. All work shown must be original and in dividually crafted; no commercial reproduc tions or manufactured items will be allowed. Dealers and sales representatives will not be permitted to show. No commissions on sales will be taken. The exhibition fee is $5 for a 10x10 space. There is an additional $1 screening fee for each applicant. Over $3,000 in cash prizes and prizes are available. This includes $250 cash awards in each category and a $500 Best-in-Show award. Barrel of Fun to prepare for the Na tional CPA Exam attend class eight hours a week for the first 13 weeks and 12 hours a week for the last 9 weeks. Becker now in its 21st year is the largest CPA Review Course in the country, with offices in 65 cities. The course prepares individuals for the National CPA Exam which is designed and administered by the American Institute of CPAs for all the State Boards of Accountancy. One of every three CPA candidates in the country who pass the ex am is a graduate of the Becker CPA Review Courts. Seventy percent of Becker students tak ing the CPA Exam pass those parts of the exam immediately after tak ing the course. This represents two to three times the national average. Cost for all four parts of the course is $580 per person, however, the first two classes of each course is offered free and without obligation. Joann Wolfe is in the pro cess of compiling and distributing a babysitting referral list for students in need of the service. The list will consist of students, both in the dorms and off-campus, the price range and the telephone numbers for contacting. Unfortunately due to in surance laws and state regulations, facilities cannot be made available on campus at this time. Don’t forget the Disco Party this Friday, Dec. 1 at 8 p.m. in the lobby of Rowe. Admission is $2 per per son and deadline for making reservations will be this Wednesday, Nov. 29, at 4:30 p.m. Call the ARC at 597-2558 to make your reservation. Wine and cheese will be served as well as other hor d‘oeurvers. We are still taking names for persons interested in participating in support groups. We tentatively have three groups planned: a female support group, a male support group and a mixed group. A special thanks to Fran Saxon for her letter which appeared in the last issue of the Carolina Jour nal, praising the services of EPIC. In the last issue of the newspaper, we announced that basketball tickets and athletic cards would be made available through EPIC. There has been a change in the procedure and both the tickets and the athletic cards will be available at the Candy Counter in the Cone University Center. There will be a caroling party on campus, Wednesday, Dec. 6, from 12-6 p.m. After visiting various classroom buildings on campus during the 6 p.m. session, the group will gather for a Christmas party complete with refreshments and Santa Claus. If the caroling gets you in the Christmas spirit, how about calling Jennifer Ensign at the Craft Cellar at 597-2486 to make some Christmas presents of your own. Ensign can assist in making ceramics, macrame, Christmas cards and tree ornaments.
