There seem to be many great records with us as we close out this fine school year. In the R & B field Laverne Baker has one going that really gets this column’s vote. The title is “That's All I Need." The Maragols seem to have their bid in for the sum mer’s beach record in “Rolling Been Lonely.” The Cowboy Church Sunday School Choir seem to be drawing attention around town with their recording of “Go On, Go On.” Eddie Fisher, thanks to a fine performance on Toast of the Town, seems to have the hit on “Heart.” On Mercury Records Patti Page is doing nicely with “I Love t;> Dance With You.’’ The graduating class of Charlotte College has as its graduating song, “Unchained Melody,” by A1 Hibbler, Decca’s sensational artist, Hibbler is a blind colored boy and his W'ork on “Unchained Melody” is delivered in the sincerest style possil)le. Last month we promised you this, so here goes nothing. Our favorite lady vocalist—Jaye P. Morgan. The leading male singer—■ Eddie Fisher. The leading R & B artist—Laverne Baker. The best R & B male artist—A1 Hibbler. The best male group in the opinion of this column—The Four Aces. The number one female group— The McGuire Sisters. The best chorus and orchestra combination belong to Les Baxter. Our pick for the artist most likely to succeed— Caterina Valiente. Well there you have it, the very last edition of the Charlotte Col legian Record Round-Up. It really has been great reviewing the top tunes with you for the past nine months. We hope that you have found the column interesting and fairly accurate. Here’s wishing all of you the very best in everything, and remember, play it cool and keep listening. KALE-LAWING CO.
