C„ under the auspices of the State Uni versity, the State Highway Com mission and the North Carolina Geological and Economic Survey February 7-12, 1916, inclusive!* The two previous Institutes have proved of great value to the engineers and superintendents attending them and it is the purpose of the Director to make this one of even more practical value. A subject which will be given special emphasis this year is that of Road Maintenance, and in this connection there will be given illustrated lectures, in struction in the patrol system and actual demonstrations of the use of the road drag and other implements which have been found useful in the maintenance of public roads. An effort is being made to have all road supervisors, overseers and super intendents who have charge of the upkeep of any section of road in North Carolina attend this institute and receive the benefits of the instruction which will be given by experts. B.—lf former Speaker Joseph Gernsey Cannon, of Illinois, is slive after the present Congress adjourns and the fall elections are over, he will make a visit to Greensboro and again, probably for the last time in his life, go over the fields where his parents once lived, and if possible, find the exact spot where he was bom.
