We have a good thing on Dr. Parcels, hut shall not tell it this week. Ifev. Mr. Ransom will preach in the Village Hull next Sabbath at 11 a. 111., it being the regular service of the Pine burst Christian Union. Brother Rogers lost last Saturday what would have been the greatest event in bis life, and he knows it now. lie will be on hand tomorrow. Landlord Powell of Aberdeen and his assistants are scouring the woods for wild turkey to feed the multitude at the dinner tomorrow. Let us all be there. Iiev. Mr. Gregory of Southern Pines, conducted services last Sabbath after noon in the Village Hall according to the Episcopal faith, and will hold a service next Sabbath in the same place at 3.30 p. in. A welcome to all. A very popular way of living in the village this season is to occupy annex cottages of the Holly Inn and obtain meals at the Inn, thus insuring the quiet ness of a private home when desired, and at the same time have all the advantages of a first class hotel. The (Jreenshoro Daily Record of Jan. 10th comments very favorably on the ap pointment of Supt. Benbow as postmaster in this village. As Greensboro is the birthplace of Postmaster Renbow, the Record undoubtedly speaks from knowl edge of his record and character. Pinehurst outing number three will' be held at Aberdeen tomorrow. A special train will leave the Aberdeen & Ashe boro station at 10 a. m. ; returning, will leave Aberdeen at 3 p. m. Landlord Powell will serve a genuine southern dinner, and exercises will be held in the town hall. Mayor Fagan of Aberdeen will make the address of welcome. Round trip, including dinner, 75 cents. Don't fail to go. You will miss the wild turkey, quail, barbecued pig (razor back), etc. The Christian Union services in the Village Hall last Sabbath were con ducted by Mr. Tobey. Rev. Mr. Cree of Wake Forest, pastor of the Baptist church at Aberdeen, preached a very strong and interesting sermon on the "Atonement,' to a large audience. The Sabbath school met at the close of the services. Mrs. Carrington is now teacher of the Bible class, Mr. Pritchett of the intermediate, and Mrs. Spinney of the primary department. All residents of the village are cordially invited to at tend the services and join the Sabbath school. PERSONAL MENTION. Mr. Tufts left for home last Monday morning. Louis II. Perley of Washington, D. C, is at the Holly Inn. William A. Young of Boston is a guest at the Inn for the season. 11. P. Bliss and wife of Providence, B. I., are guests at the uOaks.'' E. R. llarty of Baltimore, registered at the Holly Inn on Tuesday. A. B. Covington of Atlanta, Ga., regis tered at the Inn on Friday last. W. M. Bright of Lynchburg, Va., registered at the Inn on Monday. Miss S. M. Wilmot of Bridgeport, Conn., is at the "Oaks'' for the season. X. P. Rice and wife arrived at the Inn on Tuesday from their home in New York City. Messrs. G. T. Mead and II. E. Brown of Warren, Pa., have arrived at the Inn for the season. Rev. A. C. Cree of Wake Forest, N. C, was entertained at the Holly Inn last Sunday by Mr. Tufts. C. J. Wainright and E. T. Mahone of the Seaboard Air Line registered at the Holly Inn last Saturday. Miss P. II. Crawford of Lawrence, Mass., sister to Mrs. Pottle, arrived at the Magnolia on Saturday. Dr. Earnest E. Doble, of Boston, Mass., son of Mr. E. II. Doble of Quincy, Mass., made us a call yesterday. Ralph B. Stone and family of Spencer, Mass., have rented cottage F on Main street for the season, and will occupy it today. II. II. Powell and daughter, and the Misses Goodwin, of Aberdeen, attended church here last Sunday, and took din ner at the Holly Inn. The frescoing and decorating in the Holly Inn is a line testimonial to the em inent talents of the artist who executed the work, Mr. Walter E. Chivers. William H. Allen and wife of Melrose, Mass., are guests at the Holly Inn, and will remain the entire season; as will also Charles C. Williams of the same city. Mrs. M. C. McKay and Mrs. E. P. Bliss from the old historic town of Lexington, Mass., arrived at the Holly Inn on Satur day. They will occupy- cottage annex 22A on Elm road. N. M. Cobb and wife of Newton, Mass., are guests at the. Magnolia house for the season. Mr. Cobb is the senior partner of the rioted grocery firm of Cobb, Bates. & Yerxa of Boston, Mass. E. ,11. Doble and wife of Quincy, Mass., were in town during the week. Mr. Doble is one of the best known citi zens of Quincy, and conducts the largest business of general merchandise there. Mrs. James Hume and family, consist ing of Miss Jean B. and Master Joseph, and her maid, Miss Kate Lally, of Ames bury, Mass., are now guests at the Mag nolia, but will soon occupy cottage 31, on Magnolia road. B. F. Peterson of New York City has charge of the work of - leveling and im proving the roadbed of the Pinehurst electric railroad, which is being rapidly pushed to completion. It is rumored that we shall soon see new rolling stock added to that now in use. ABERDEEN. O. Brook Smith is in the village. Miss Ray is visiting Mrs. A. C. Cami bell. Gib. Blanchard of Varina, X. C, is in town. Mrs. P. A. Pleasants is visiting rela tives here. Sam Harper, a popular salesman, has been in town several days. We are glad to see Mr. C. X. Blue out again after several weeks' illness. Miss Henrie Adams of Biscoe is visit ing her sister, Mrs. W. W. Maurer. Will Blue returned to Guilford college Thursday, after spending the holidays with his parents. II. H. Powell is making arrangements for a fox hunt next week. Pinehurst sportsman please take notice. SOUTHERN PINES. The Kings Daughters gave a birthday party for the First Congregational church Wednesday night. S. W. Sawyer of Peterboro, X. II., is here for the winter. He expects Mrs. Sawyer in a few days. Mrs. O. D. Iline and her daughter Laura, of AVest Winstead, Conn., arrived Friday for the winter. Mrs. G. R. Van Sant and four little children left here Saturday last for their home in Rah way, N. J. Work on the First Congregational church is nearing completion. Painters have already done most of the exterior work. The new Baptist church is framed and boarded and the roof is in place. When it is finished it will be a great benefit to the members and an ornament to our village. Dr. C. T. Haws has returned to South ern Pines and opened his dental parlors over the Johnson drug store. He ex tends a cordial welcome to all wishing work done in his line. J. W. Polar and son arrived here Mon day from New York City. They will make a purchase and go to farming at once. Their object is to get away from a cold climate and poor health. The drummers' banquet held here at Piney Woods Inn on Saturday night was a very pleasant affair. Nearly one hun dred commercial men were there from all principal cities. Manager St. John is be coming very popular in this section as a caterer. Post : "Well, how did you like the pic nic ?" Yost : "I was so glad to get home again that I was glad I went." Up-to Date. "There was a strange man here to see you to-day, papa,' said little Ethel, as she ran to meet her father in the hall.
