Mention The Outlook adv. 1 CHURCH SERVICE POPULAR Tin. Ann this. jrumciNS. MONG the attractions of the Village which this year have shown a marked increase in pop ularity, are the church services, and this largely through the efforts and popularity of Resident Protestant Minister Alleyne Carleton Howell. The congregations have increased until they more than double the past, upon several occasions the attendance exceed ing the supply of seats, particularly noticable being the men who are now conspicuous by their numbers. What almost might be termed a new departure, so marked has been the growth, is the Sunday school in which a large circle of young people and children have become interested as teachers and pupils. Renewed interest has also been They Are CJuentn of Mr. and Mr, ihaw at Carolina Dinner. Among the most delightful of the week's more formal affairs at The Caro lina was a dinner given Thursday even ing in honor of Manager Charles A. Judkins of the Mount Kineo House, and Mrs. Judkins, by Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Shaw of Bath, Maine. Covers were laid for nine and the table daintily decorated with carnations, a souvenir sachet card resting at each plate. An amusing surprise of the evening was the presentation of loving cups to Mr. Judkins and Mrs. Jillson in recogni tion of their unrivaled ability as a team in mixed foursome golf in matches against Mr. Shaw and Miss Priest. kL SLJ - if r. .iiM. fi r, T.i 1 -mt - ,p.A.v-A '4 THE riNEIIURST CHAPEL FOHMEKLY THE VILLAGE HALL awakened in the choir, through system atic rehearsals and organization. The result has been most gratifying financial support, through the popularity of church services, and unification of the varied religious interests of the commun ity. His general interest in the various outdoor sports and recreations has also added much as well as his personality, combining happily with his marked ability in conducting the service. Perhaps no feature has done more to bring this about that the fact that Mr. Howell has adapted himself so generally to the peculiar conditions existing here, with the result that the church services may truly be said to mark a new era in Village religious life, and which has done much towards the marked success of the present interest. Archery Attractive Innovation. The introduction of archery at the tar get pistol butts is an attractive innova tion which is interesting both men and women. Already plans are being made for a series of tournaments. Other guests included Mr. and Mrs. E. II. Munch, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert L. Jill son and Miss Lucy Priest. Till, judkins wins. Lead the Field in Thursday' It I tie Tournament for Women. A novelty in the way of a handicap rifle shoot for women interested a large field Thursday afternoon, details being in the hands of a committee including Miss Winants, Miss Fuller and Miss Bar roll. Mrs. C. A. Judkins of Kineo, Mainei led the field with a card of one hundred and nineteen, shooting from scratch and taking the gross score cup; Mrs. Dan G. Stucki of Buffalo, winning the net score prize with one hundred and thirteen, her handicap being twenty-live. Other scores were : Miss Winants 25, 80; Miss Firth 0, G2; Miss Mullen 50, 104; Mrs. Fahey 50, 77; Mrs. Phelan 50, 70; Miss Fuller 50, 01; Miss O'Neil 50, 60; Miss Barroll 50, 50. The success of the event has already led to plans for other similar shoots. n
