THE HORSE SHOW
The Fourth Annual Horse Show under
the auspices of the Pinehurst Jockey
Club was held on Tuesday and Wednes
day of this week with 121 entries in 25
classes. The exhibitors, numbering over
tifty, represented nearly every state in
the East, and the show was particularly
remarkable for the quality of horses
shown.
J. Macy Willets, Secretary of the As
sociation of American Horse Shows,
Inc., judged the Harness classes and
Fred B. Shreve judged the Trotters in
Hand. The Polo pony classes were
judged by Windsor T. White and the
Children's classes by James Boyd.
Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Maddison and
Miss Ivy Maddison carried off the chief
honors of the show with six blues which
included wins in the classes Saddle
Horses 14-2 and not over 15-2, Light
weight Hunters, Hie Over Stakes, Saddle
Horses over 15-2, Champion Saddle Horse
and Champion Hunter.

Henry B. Swoope 's Wasseon was
awarded the blue for Running Horses in
Hand, in which event Miss Helen War
ing 's Ray-0 '-Light was second, and Jo
Jo, entered by Nat S. Hurd, was third.
The entries of Fred II. Post were
prominent in the Polo classes with four
blues, a second and a third. Jane Dillon,
a handsome 2-year-old filly owned and
entered by A. B. Cox, was best in the
class for 2-year-old trotters and won the
trophy over several of her namesakes,
Mako Dillon, Pilot Dillon and Helen
Dillon.
K.' D. Whistler's Fatty Arbuckle was
awarded the blue in the Saddle Pony
class, and Miss Impudence, entered by
Miss Mary Grace O'Brien, was second.
Mr. Whistler also won first with his Sir
Plexico in . the Combination class.
Miss Jane Lloyd and Miss Lillian Ross
won firsts in the Children's classes.

honors awarded as follows:

W. C. White, President of the White
Company of Cleveland, Ohio, is now
making his annual visit to Pinehurst for
rest and an outing of golf. In this con
nection it is interesting to note the popu
larity of Mr. White's product in this
section of the country. The fire truck
at Pinehurst was purchased from this
concern some four years ago and has
served as a protection against fire for the
entire community, and the large bus that
plys between points around Pinehurst
was also manufactured by this concern.
More than 16,000 White trucks were in
use by the allied armies during the war.
