4-H Electric Workshop Reorganizes JACKSON - The County 4-H Club Electric Workshop met on Monday, September 13, in the Agricultural Buildingto reorgan ize for the year. GO - ATLAS - GO NEW GINNING OPERATION—A new building housing a new ail-electric ginning system for Rich Square Gin Company has recently been completed and is now in operation. The all-steel building was erected on the site of the old gin, owned and op erated for more than a quarter of a century by R. W. Outland of Rich Square. Gin manager is Jimmy Outland. DSItQB Rich Square Gin Using All-Electric System TIRE SUE I111I11111M1II)II RICH SQUARE - A complete, brand-new ginning operation Is available to cotton growers in the Rich Square area this season. An all - steel blue building equipped with an all - electric Lummus ginning system has been constructed on the site on East Jackson Street where Rich Square Gin Company has been in opera tion for more than a quarter of a century. The new operation will con tinue under the name of Rich Square Gin Company, according to the owner, R, W. Outland of Rich Square, who said they are ready to handle both mechanical and hand-picked cotton. The gin is equipped with two green leaf stick machines and two hot air incline cleaners for the pre-cleaning process. A sup er Jet cleaner and double saw type lint cleaners are new equip ment available for the lint prepa ration process. The gin also fea tures the Lummus model 66 Im perial 88 saw gins and operates on 580-horse-power, All equipment is designed and Installed for safety and effi ciency. Electric switches and buttons installed in a panel like desk control each unit of the ginning process. The cleaners are equipped with magnetic forc es to capture any harmful or for eign particles. Without any release the gin is capable of handling an individual farmer's cotton. The average output of the system is 10 bales of cotton per hour. Construction of the new build ing was started in early May, 1965 following demolition of the old building. Cement foundations were poured according to Lum mus blueprints. Outland is owner, his son, Dr. R. B. Outland maintains a supervisory interest, and the owner’s grandson, James 0. (Jimmy) Outland, son of Dr. Out land, is manager.
