Ash Curtis, a 1993 UNC graduate from Raleigh, thinks it would be great if some one made a donation in his honor. “There are a lot of people who need essential things morethanlneedpresents.” Other local organizations have not so licited alternative gift-giving in the past and have not seen donations made in honor of others as frequently as they would like. At the American Cancer Society, most holiday donations are made in memory of a loved one. The Orange County Women’s Center has not solicited alternative gift-giving but plans to in the future.
