and just above it hung a large,

flower arrangements and white,
burning tapers were used. i
Refreshments consisting of
delicious white punch, mints, j
nuts and cake squared iced in
white, decorated with a heart
outlined in red, were served,
from a beautifully decorated:

chi. There were 21 present.
The Lottie Moon Circle won
the attendance pin.
The program for the next
meeting will be under the
sponsorship of the Margaret

Holds Meeting
The Norlina Woman's Club
held its February meeting at
the club house on Wednesday
evening with Mrs. T. W. Stal
lings, club president, presiding,
l'he devotional was given by
Mrs. G. P. Grissom. A pro
gram on "Valentine" was pre
sented by Mrs. Alice Stultz.
The members drew names
for "Secret Pals" to last for
the next three months. The
meeting closed with the mem
bers repeating the club col
lect.
The officers table was cover
ed with a red cloth and bore
an arrangement of red glads.
Mrs. Stallings served the 11
members cherry tarts topped
with ice cream and coffee.
The March meeting will be
at the home of Mrs. J. Roy

Miss Katherine W. Mayfield,
98, died Monday afternoon in
Warren General Hospital after
a long illness.
Mrs. Mayfield was a retired
| school teacher. She taught in
(private and public schools in
Warren County for more than
50 years. At the time of her
death, she was the second
oldest resident of the county.
Funeral services were con
ducted at 11 a. m. Wednesday
| in Zion Methodist Church by
the Rev Mr. Funderburke, pas
tor, assisted by the Rev. C. W.
Wooten and the Rev. Larry
