Rlv Lola-Sue Mission 6roup Holds Meeting The Lola-Sue Mission Action Group met at the home of Mrs. O. R. Moore on Monday at 3 p. m. Mrs. G. O. Stultz, Sr., leader, opened the meeting with an Inspiring reading, "Thou Art Near." Scripture reading and the call to prayer was given by Mrs. Alice Stultz and the opening prayer was led by Mrs. R. H. Fuller. Mrs. Moore, Mrs. Fuller, Mrs. Bertie DeLoach and Mrs. Imogene Arnold, with Mrs. Alice Stultz as mission action chairman, were assigned action projects to investigate and bring their findings to the November meeting. The group is Interested in selecting long range mission action projects to be carried out by the members. Following the business session, Mrs. Alice Stultz gave an interesting reading, "Prayer Shows God's Promises of Love." Mrs. De Loach Invited the group to meet with her in November when Mrs. A. S. Wyckoff will have charge of the program. Others present not mentioned above were Mrs. J. O. Egerton and Mrs. R. C. Watson. During the social hour the hostess served homemade spiced cake, orange sherbert, roasted pecans, Hallowe'en candy and coffee. Miss Hicks Honored At Surprise Party Mr. and Mrs. William Hicks entertained their daughter, Miss Teresa Hicks, on her 16th birthday with a surprise party at the Lions Den in Warrenton on Saturday night, Oct. 24. When the honoree entered with her escort, Donald Wimbrow, the group sang "Happy Birthday." Parbam Miss Deborah Van Floyd of Norllna and Corporal Phillip Mayes Parham, USMC, ofCamp Lejeune and Norllna were united in marriage on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 25, at lour o'clock at the Norllna Baptist Church. The Reverend Jerry Lyons officiated at the dou!<!e-rlng ceremony. The bride Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Ernest Floyd, Sr., of Norllna. The groom is the son of Mrs. Sarah Parham of Norllna and Mr. throughout the evening by around 60 guests. After Miss Hicks opened the many lovely birthday gifts, refreshments consisting of punch, sandwiches, birthday cake, cheese straws and mints were served. Chape rones for the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. D. S. Wlmbrow, Mr. and Mrs. John Do re and Mr. and Mrs. William Hicks. Noland David' Par ham of Creedmoor. Tie ceremony was performed before a background of five Oregon fern balls, four candelabrum with cathedral tapers. Mrs. H. H. Foster presented a program of nuptial organ music. Baum of Raleigh, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore a floor-length gown of brick polyester crepe. The empire bodice, with long fitted sleeves, and an A-lined skirt, featured an embroidered floral ribbon bow with streamers at the back. Her matching head piece consisted of a bow outlined with veil. She carried a basket of gold cushion mums showered with streamers. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Roland L. Wilson of Annapolis, Maryland, Mrs. James W. Hundley of High Point, sisters of the bride, and Miss Donna Lou Paschall of Raleigh. They wore mint dresses designed like that of the matron of honor. They carried baskets of gold and bronze cushion mums showered with streamers. Miss Mary Ann Hundley of High Point, niece of the bride, was flower girl. She wore a floor - length white polyester crepe dress designed like the attendants, with a brick bow and streamers in the back, and her headpiece was a bow. She carried a white straw basket with white mums. Michael Jones, nephew of groom, of Garner was ring bearer. Mr. JamesW. Hundley of High Point served as best man. Ushers were John Ernest Floyd, Jr., of Norllna, brother of the bride, Clifton Earl Davis of Garner, brother-in-law of the groom, and Wayne Martin of Norllna. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Floyd chose a streetlength dress of cobalt crepe with matching accessories. Mrs. Parham's dress was of navy with matching accessories. Both mother's wore white orchid corsages. Mrs. Roscoe Perklnson, grandmother of the bride, wore a green knit dress with brown accessories, she wore a corsage of white carnations. The wedding party formed a receiving line in the vestibule ofthe church. « For a wedding trip to Georgia and Tennessee, the bride wore a two-piece emerald dress trlmed in navy with navy accessories and the white orchid corsage lifted from her bridal bouquet. The bride graduated from Norllna High School and is a senior at Sir Walter Beauty Academy of Henderson. The groom graduated from Onslow - camp Lejeune Adult High School. He is serving in the Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune. After-Rehearsal Party Miss Debbie Floyd and Mr. Philip Parham, bride and groom-elect were honored at an after-rehearsal party Saturday, October 24, at nine o'clock p.m. in the home of Mrs. R. H. Fuller. The hostesses were Mrs. Gertrude Hundley, Mrs. Kaye Baum, Mrs. Mildred Wilson and Mrs. Fuller. Miss Floyd was presented a white corsage tgton arrival. The guests were invited into the dinning room. After the bride and groom-elect cut the first slice of wedding cake, Mrs. Floyd, mother of the bride, served the cake and Mrs. Sarah Parham, mother of the groom poured punch. The appointed table was covered with a white French lace cloth over yellow, with an arrangement of white and yellow mums and burning tapers. The wedding party and guests were served wedding cake, punch, nuts, cheese straws and mints.
