serve during the final days of the session
after being ill at her home in Concord
for the largest part of the session.
Miss Foil is the second young' girl to
serve as page in the senate, former Sen
ator Varser’s' daughter having served at
a previous session.

Dr, W. A.- Parker, regional director
of the American Playground and Recrea
tion Association, will spend the day in
Concord, Wednesday, March 11th.
At noon he will address the Rotary
Club at its regular meeting. At 3:30
lie will deliver an address In the audi
torium of the high school to which §h
the Pgrent-Teacher associations of the
city ate most cordially Invited.
I have had the pleasure of hearing
Dr. Parker on several occasions; one at
the Rotary luncheon in Greensboro, and
another before the State Teachers Asso
ciation in Raleigh. He is a very gifted
speaker indeed and I am very glad 'to
know that he is coming to Concord. He
has a message for dll of us and I extend
a meet pressing invitation to the Wom
an's clubs, book clubs, all civic clubs,
our mayor, hoard of. aldermen and can
didates for the saitfe, to come and hear
Dr. Parker. „
His address will be at 3:30 and will'
not last over an hour. All who love
their city and are iftterested in its up
building are most cordially invited to

Mrs. W. D. Harry, of No. 2 township,
announced the engagement of her daugh
'ter, Addie Sue, to Shrank S. Marshall, of
McKeesport, Pa., yesterday, the wedding
to take place in the early spring.
- Miss Harry is the sixth daughter of
Mrs, Harry and is well known through
out North Carolina. For the past few
years she has been working in West Vir
ginia and in Winador, N. C., as a home
demonstration agent,
Mr. Marshall has been a frequent vis
itor in Concord and is well known.
Rocky River Wrestles Concord at Har
risburg.
The same men who wrestled last Fri
day night at Rocky River School house
will'wrestle again at Harrisburg school
house this coming Thursday night. In
addition to the seven regular wrestling
matches there will be four extra matches,
there will also be tWo boxing matches
and after the matches the Concord “Y”
gym boys will give a, demonstration of
gymnastics and fancy tumbling 'stunts
and pyramid building.
All the matches are -strictly amateur
and according to the regular college rules,
under which the Concord'“Y’’ men have i
always contended.
Kite Flying Contest Held With Much
Success.
The kite flying contest was staged Sat
urday morning and was an event en
joyed by several hundred of Concord’s

et to all league games'in baseball and
basketball, was won by Ed Fink. The
second prize, a pass -to basketball games, 1
was won by Reece.
