Donnely of Statesville, spent the week ner with relatives here and at Trade, Tenn. J. W. Gambill and J. S. Wilkins attended the Aberdeen-Angus stock sale at Elkin. Mrs. B. E. Reeves, who re cently underwent an operation in the Davis hospital in Statesville, is improving and has gone home with her daughter, to Cascade, Va„ to recuperate. Mr. Bill Woodie, student at U. N. C., Chapel Hill, spent the week end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Woodie, of West Jef ferson. Misses Roberta Austin and My rtle Deane Graybeal, of Mt. Cook, was present. During the meeting, members of the club exchanged helpful household and garden hints. Mrs. Joe Worth, vice president, pre sided at the meeting in the ab sence of the president, Mrs. J. Bruce Porter, and the secretary, Mrs. L. B. Tyson. During the social hour, the i hostess, assisted by Mrs. Cook, I served delicious refreshments, suggestive of the Easter motif. The next meeting of the club will be held at the home of Mrs. L. P. Colvard. HELTON WSCS WILL SPONSOR SUPPER, SAT. The Hilton Women's Society of Christian Service will sponsor a chicken supper at the Helton school lunchroom, Saturday night j at 6:30 o'clock, it was announced I this week. I Birthday Party Given Mrs. Greer Mrs. Eilzabeth Greer, affec tionately known by her friends as “Aunt Elizabeth,’ of tne Mill Creek section, RFD, Todd, cele brated her ninety-fifth birthday on Sunday, March 7, it was learn ed this week. From all reports, the honoree thought her cake was beautiful, lighted with the ninety-five can dles. Mrs. Greer is the sister of Rev. T. J. Houck. Plan Meetings On White Pine Rust H. D. Quessenberry, county agent announced that there would be six meetings in Aslho county to show a moving picture part of which is taken in North Carolina, on white pine rust. Blister rust has Iren found in the North Fo-k section of Ashe county, therefore, this picture is very timely. Along with the blister rust picture and a dis cussion on the same, thi re will bo a suitable picture for our sec tion of the sta'e in regard to for estry management. The program will last approximately one hour and fifteen minutes to one hour and thirty minutes.
