LOCAL AND PERSONAL. Judge Ewart was on the Hill Monday; ., ' Golf and Tennis rules at Long's mly 10c. v Messrs. Shaw of Hartshorne and Bowlingf of Roug-emont, have lately registered in the University. One of Chapel Hill's popular young merchants was in Chatham county ion Sunday, "visiting-friends." Mr. G. G. Stephens, President -of the Athletic Association, g-oes to 'Asheville Saturday on business. Mr. Harry Lake has returned from Newberne Fish and Game Fair, and reported a glorious time. Miss Mattie Kirkland has return ed from a several days visit to friends and relatives Durham. The inmates of the Infirmary are rapidly becoming" less numerous, and the measles agony has abated con siderably. Miss Sallie Farrington of Riggs- bee, and Miss Nellie Eubanks of Gath, made a pleasant visit to the Hill on Tuesday. . Rev. Jesse Cunningham preached in the Methodist Church Friday night, and his sermon was an inter esting one as usual. Miss Fannie Wilson is recover ing very rapidly and her many friends will be glad to know that she is nearly able to be out. Prof. Gore is making decided im provement on his already beautiful premises, The yard is being enlar ged, and fences rearranged. V ; Rev. Mr. Ferguson of Waynes ville Va. has declined the call to the Baptist Church, and the good bre thren are looking- about for another pastor. i Marvin Pickard came home last week to rest a while and drink once more from the town pump. He re turned to Oak Ridge on Monday to his studies. Since the Marshals have been e iected they have set to work in a systematic -way, and they desire every student's order for invitations as soon as possible. For the sake of many who anx iously wait for Easter and don't know when it comes, we have con sulted the almanc, and find that the date is April, 5th. Quite a number were over from Durham last , Friday night to see the "Little Rebel" played. Among others were the familiar faces of Col. J. S. Carr and family, and his brother Dr. Carr. Some rowdy ruffians broke two of the electric lights on the street Saturday night, and terrorized the town generally. Rev. J. T. Gibbs D. D. of Rock ingham will lecture in Gerrard Hal on Saturday night Mar. 14 and wil preach on Sunday night at the same place.
