The effective two-hit pitching of Dean Cassell, George Whitted, Henry Schacht, and Luke Cor bett was too much for the Tar Babies, who came up with only one scoring threat all afternoon. Al Wood was in top form for the first two innings of the game, hurling no-hit ball against the Tar Heel varsity, the Hearnmen broke the scoring ice with a single tally in the third, however, and from there on in, it was Katie-bar-the-door. The lone freshman threat came in the top of the second. After Wayne White and Johnny Mot singer had grounded out, Jake Carter lined a single into center- field. A balk by Cassell advanced the runner to third. Jeeter Lee then drew a base on balls and stole second easily when Catcher Bull Page's throw was off. Holli day then popped to Will Hobbs at first closing- the inning and leaving two runners stranded. No Tar Baby got past first after the second inning.
