Lee and Hobby disagreed over the wording of a statement issued by the Mayor's Task Force to Negotiate with the Amalgamated Transit Union. . Hobby requested the statement include a state statute which prohibits the town from dealing directly with the union. Lee finally agreed to the wording although he favored the town assuming the responsibility of deciding if direct negotiations are permissible. Hobby said he plans to petition the state legislature for removal of this statute. Lee, however, said, "We don't want to commit ourselves to something constructed by the state which some of us here may not support." Hobby said after the meeting that if Carrboro approves a transit system, he will advise the drivers to unionize immediately, ' - g oboo b o. o.. 10 Discount With This Ad. 9 9 9 9 9Jk9 fl fl ft B B 6 B f ft 0 ft fl 0 ft ft f t iT SPECIALS EARLY BIRD SPECIALS 4:45-7:00 p.m. Mon: 14 Fried Chicken, tossed salad, bread $1 .55 tues: Spaghetti salad. bread $1.65.
