Mrs. Callie Ledford, 72, ! Passes February 21 Mrs. Callie Dona Ledford, 72, died at her home in the Pren- j tiss section' of the county, on ' Wednesday, at 12:30 o'clock fol- j lowing an illness ol three i months. Death was the results ot a broken hip. Funeral services were held at the Pleasant Hill Baptisf church on Thursday afternoon at 3 ' o'clock with the Rev. Lester Sorrells officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. The pallbearers were Mack Dills, Joe Hopkins, Roy Sanders, Charlie Ledford, Dock Sanders and Charles Stanley. Mrs. Ledford, a life-long resi dent of this county, was born on February 24, 1872. She was a daughter of the late Jesse H. and Louisa Sanders. On Oc tober 28, 1897 she was married to Abraham Ledford. who proceded her in death three years ago. She was a member I of the Pleasant Hill Baptist church. Surviving are three children, Walter L. Ledford. of Frank lin route 2; Mrs. Essie C. Dills ! and Mrs. Lola Hopkins, of Franklin route 1; three broth ers, Columbus and Henry San ders, of Prentiss and Manson Sanders, of Franklin, and two sisters. Miss Arie Sanders, of Prentiss and Mrs. Martha Jones, of Ontario, Calif. Also 10 grandchildren. . ^ Rites For Gillespie Infant Held Sunday Howard George Gillespie, in fant son of Mr. and Mrs. How ard Gillespie, of Franklin and Springville, Utah, died in the Angel hospital on Sunday morn ing at 2:10 o'clock. Funeral services were held at the Franklin Cemetery on Sun day afternoon at 4 o'clock. The Rev. J. F. Marchman, pastor of the Franklin Baptist church of ficated and interment was in the Franklin cemetery. Surviving besides the parents is one sister, Hannah, the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Gillespie, of Youngs town, Ohio, and the grand mother, Mrs. J. B. Henry, of Franklin, Smith Bridge Resident Passes At Home Tuesday James Harley Reynplds. 50, died at Iris home in the Co weeta section of Macon county on Tuesday morning at 7:30 o'clock following an illness of three months. - ? - A life-long resident of Macon county, Mr. Reynolds was born on November 13, 1895, the son of the late Fate and Lucy Reynolds. On April 7, 1919 he was married to Miss Ora Ethel Curtis, who survives. He was a veteran of World War No. 1, and following his release from service, his life's work was spent on the farm and in lumber business. Funeral services were held at 11 o'clock on Wednesday morn ing at the Asbury Methodist church at Otto, with the Rev. V. N. Allen, pastor, officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery, The pallbearers included Rob ert Stewart, Grady Cunning ham, Frank Curtis, Charley Ledford, Prince Curtis and Jim Henson. Surviving are the widow and i three children, Robert Lee Rey- 1 nolds, in the armed forces home ' on furlough, Janice and Ge neva Reynolds, of Otto; one brother, Joseph Reynolds. Bre vard, one sister, Mrs. Dock Barnes, of Brevard. Also a num ber of nieces and nephews. Horace Hurst, an employee of the Zichgraf Lumber Company, who was a patient at the Angel hospital for several days, has recovered sufficiently to be re moved to his home on Bonny Crest. E. T. Calloway, who has been seriously ill at his home on Bonny Crest since Sunday, was reported to be slightly im proved on Thursday. Jess Ray, who has been quite ill at his home on West Main street for the past three weeks, was reported on Wednesday to be somewhat improved. Mrs. Clare Bell Setser, office; manager of The Franklin Press, : underwent an operation for the removal of her appendix at the Angel hospital. Her condition i was reported satisfactory. SEEDS, SEEDS! Bryant and the late Mr. Bryant were held at the home on Harrison avenue on Wednesday afternoon at 5 o'clock. The Rev. J. F. Marchman. pastor of the Franklin Baptist church, offi ciated, and interment was in the Franklin cemetery. Surviving are the mother, and three half-brothers. Kenneth Bryant, Seaman 1/C, in the Navy; Pvt. Clell Bryant, in the Army in overseas service, and Cullen Bryant, Franklin. The grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. H. J. CAGLE'S CAFE i Final Rites For Mrs. Roane Held Tuesday Mrs. Iva Lee Roans. 46, died in the Angel Clinic here on Monday morning at 10:30 o'clock from a stroke of apo plexy, which she suffered at her home on Cartoogechaye on Sat urday afternoon, although she had been in ill health for some time suffering from diabetes. Mrs. Roane, a life-long resi dent of this county, was born in the Upper section of Cartoo gechaye on August 9, 1898. She was a daughter of the late Zeb Waldroop, and "Aunt Doc" Wal droop. She was a member of the Maiden Chapel Methodist church. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Maiden Chapel Metho dist church. The Rev. V. N. Allen, pastor, officiated and in terment was in the church cemetery. The pallbearers included Bur rell Southards, Hillard Solesbee, Willie Byrd, Neil Waldroop, Fred Nichols and Harvey Burch. The flower girls were Belvey Nichols, Leona Southards and Estella Roane. Surviving are the husband and five children, Mrs. Helen Guffey, Mrs. Shirley Ledford, and Miss Selma Roane, all of Franklin route 1; and two sons, J. T. Roane, of Franklin route 1, and Curt Roane, in the army somewhere in the South Pacific. Also four brothers, Grover Wal droop, of Port Angeles. Wash., Jake, Grady and Lester Wal droop, all of Franklin route 1, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Mor gan, of Franklin route 1, and one half-brother, Edd Cruise, of Franklin route 1, and six grandchildren. S/SGT TROY CRISP RETURNED TO STATES Mr. and Mrs. Fred L. Crisp, ol Franklin route 3, have re ceived word from their son, S/Sergeant Troy L. Crisp, that he had arrived back in the states. S/Sergeant Crisp was serious ly wounded in action in France on November 13, 1944. He holds the expert rifle man's badge, expert combat badge, and the Purple Heart. He entered service in Oc tober 1943 and took his basic training at Camp Blanding, Fla., and went over sea in March. He is now stationed at Harman General Hospital, Long view, Texas. PFC.
