Moody Ends Basic; Goes To Wyoming Charles Moody, Jr., who has been stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. Tex., has completed his basic training and spent a week at home with relatives. Premeasurement Of Burley Is Offered Official premeasurement of bur ley tobacco allotments is being offered Macon County farmers for 1957 in line with a state-wide policy. The pit- measured acreage will be accepted as correct for all pur poses unless It is later determined that. (1) the crop has not been planted within the premeasured area; (2) less than the pre measured area has been planted, or; (3) there was an obvious error in the premeasurement. New Cleaning Place Opens In Franklin R and E Cleaners, a new dry cleaning establishment located near the Little Tennessee River bridge in Franklin, opened for business this week. It is owned by Ross L. and Mrs. Edna Lunsford. This Is Mr. Luns ford's first dry cleaning experi ence. Since coming here five years ago, he has done painting and tile work. Mrs. Lunsford has worked in the dry cleaning trade for a number of years. She is a native 'of this county. James R. Ammons, of Franklin, is working for the Lunsfords. Come in today for the best buy in town. Truck Accident Claims Life Of Stephen Patton Son Of Franklin Woman; Services In Pennsylvania A two-truck collision near Bed ford, Pa.. Wednesday of last week (Feb. ?) claimed the life of Stephen C. Patton, son of Mis Rebecca S. Patton, of Franklin. Mrs. Patton, who returned here to live several months ago after retiring from government service in Washington, D. C., went by train to Pennsylvania early Thursday morning. Friends here say she plans to remain there with her son's family for the time being. I A relief driver for a trucking company, Mr. Patton, 25, is undei I stood to have been napping in the cab of the truck when it and another large trailer truck ash ed head-on on an icy stretch of highway. He was critically injured and died a few hours later in , a hospital. The driver of the ( truck in which he was riding is understood to have been seriously injured. It has been reported that sev eral hours after the collision of i the two trucks, another mishap i involving two trucks and an auto mobile occurred at almost the same location. Funeral services for Mr. Patton were held Friday afternoon at Honeybrook, Pa. In addition to his mother, he/ is survived by his wife, the former Miss Marie Louise Young, of Philadelphia, a three-year-old son. Doug H., and a year-old daughter. Nancy. Miss Plemmons Named To Instructor Post At Oklahoma University Miss Edith Plemmons, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Plemmons, of Franklin, has been appointed graduate assistant Instructor of organ at Oklahoma University, where she is in her final year of graduate work. She is working with Miss Mil dred Andrews, internationally known organist and teacher. Miss Plemmons aiso is serving as associate organist with Mis?
