FOR COMING YEAR - Rotary Club Leader Appoints Chairman Robert C. (Bob) Carpenter, who | will assume the presidency of the Franklin Rotary Club July 1, last (Wednesday) night announced the club committee chairmen for the coming year. Under the club's rules, each of the four directors heads one of the four fields of club service: John B. Ray, club service; Frank Dean, vocational service; Allan Brooks, community service: and Stephen Bundy, International service. The sub-committee chairmen under them are: Club Service: Mack Franks, at tendance chairman; C. -S. Brown, classification; W. N. FAULTY EQUIPMENT RALEIOH ? Faulty mechanical equipment was responsible for 87 of North Carolina's fatal auto check-ups last year. A Motor Ve hicles Department investigation into the 1957 traffic death toll revealed defective brakes and tires as the principal defect lead ing to the death crashes. Alto gether there were 932 such acci dents, which killed 1,063 persons and Injured 19.602 others by year's end. Scald two cups but termilk. Cool until lukewarm. Dis solve one yeast cake in V4 cup of luke warm buttermilk. Add this to the remaining buttermilk with V* teaspoon soda, two teaspoons salt. S cup sugar, two tablespoons melted butter. Beat this mixture well; then stir the flour In gradu ally. Place the dough in a greas ed bowl Spread the top lightly with melted butter. Cover the dough, put It in a warm place, permit, it to rise until it is almost tripled In bulk. Knead it lightly for one minute. Roll out dough to thickness of V2 inch and cut with biscuit cutter. Place on greased sheet. Permit rolls to rise until doubled in bulk. Bake in hot oven 1 425? > for about 15 minutes.
