Hospital In Ashe vl lie.
Funeral services were held the
afternoon of the 19th at Dryman's
Chapel by the Rev. Aubrey Brown
and the Rev. Robert -E. Early.
Burial was In the church ceme
tery.
The child ws born May 23, 1957.
In addition to the parents, sur
viving are three brothers, Michael.
Sterling, and Davis., all of the
home. '

day and Wednesday night at 7:30

Shields Preaches
The Rev. Bill Shields, pastor
of Watauga Baptist Church, filled
the pulpit at Cowee Sunday morn
ing in the absence of the pastor,
who spoke at Watauga, where he
has been assisting in a revival.

Six shuUns in the community
were cheered Thanksgiving by the
generosity of the Patten Meth
odist Church. Members donated
food and other articles, which
were packed in boxes by the
women of the church and distri
buted to the shut-ins Wednesday.
Joint Service
Several people from Patton at
tended church Sunday at Union.
This was the fifth Sunday and it
was a joint service for the four
churches of the Macon Methodist
Circuit. Dr. L. B. Hayes brought
the message. Linda Ledford, Mar
tha Blaine. June Wells, and
Nancy Cochran gave a program of
special music.

County native and veteran of
World War II. died from a heart
attack Wednesday. November 25.
in Pontiac, Mich., where he had
worked for General Motors for
eight years.
Funeral services were conducted
at the Sugarfork Baptist Church
here the afternoon of the 28th by
the Rev. R. D. Burnette and the
Rev. C. T. Taylor. Burial was in
the church cemetery. Members of
V.F.W. Post 7339 were pallbearers.
Born May 3. 1908, Mr. Shook
was the son of the late Robert
and Mrs. Emma Belle Stanfield
Shook. He enlisted in the U. S.
*rmy Jan. 20. 1942, and served as
i field linesman in the India and
Burma campaign, receiving his
discharge Oct. 1. 1945. Mr Shook
also worked five years with Nanto
hala Power and Light Company.
Surviving are three brothers,
Luwson and Troy Shook, both of
Franklin, and Howard Shook, of
Lakeland. N. J.; three sisters, Mr*.
Frank Peek, of Franklin, Route
5. Mrs. Mattie Evarfc, of Franklin,
