SANFORD HARDWARE CO. R. B. Wicker Sanford Around 75 people attended the Achievement Day program of the Home Demonstration Clubs held in the Carthage High school last Thursday night. The members enjoyed^ an evening of music by group 'singing, quartets and stunts. Mrs. Redga Thomas, president of the Moore County council, presided over the meeting which opened with the singing of “On ward Christian Soldiers.” Annie Frances Smith gave the devotional using as her theme “God in the Autumn World.” The minutes and treasury report were given by Mrs. A. C. Bailey. Mrs. Lloyd Thomas of the Springfield club was installed as the new County Council presi dent. Mrs. C. P. Jones of the Mount Holly club is the vice- president. Recognition of the suc cessful work of the retiring offi cers was given by Flora McDon ald, home agent. ■ The quartets from Pine Grove and High Falls entertained the group with several numbers of spiritual and folk songs. Stunt.s given by the clubs included Turning of the Table and Hus band Tongue-lashing The “Ain’t It Awful” stunt given in costume by the High Falls quartet brought down the house. Games were led by Mrs. Arthur Gaines and Ruth Harrell, assistant home agent, who had charge of the recrea tional program. Mrs. Cecil Maness of High Falls won first place in the feed sack dress revue. Mrs. Addie Baxley won second place and Mrs. Sarah Brady third. High Falls won attendance rec ognition with sixteen members present. Club members were hon ored who had 20, 15, and 10-year membership records. Mrs. Thomas Tarbox, of Fairlawn, N. J., gets help scrubbing the stairs from her daughter, Carol Sue, She also gets help from her con sistent saivage of used cooking fat that provides the soap for aii househoid chores. Household salvage helps make not only packaged and laundry soap, but other short supplies, as well. MOORE HARDWARE CO.
