Born in Cameron, “Aunt Ly dia” married William McKeithen and came to Vass to live some sixty years ago and this was her home until about three years ago when she went with her grand son, Lonnie McKeithen, and oth er members of the family to Lakeview to live after their home here was destroyed by fire. “Aunt Lydia” will long be re membered for her patience tribulation and her faithfulness | to duty. For years before her ! husband’sdeath he was an invalid | and she bravely carried on, car- i ing for him day and night and | continuing with the laundry work at which she had for years help ed to meet the household needs, turning out miles of snowy gar- rcnents. She was rewarded for her i faithfulness by the loving care bestowed upon her by her grand- j children during her years of dis- j who ability. i Funeral services were held at: Allen’s Chapel Methodist Church, I of which she had long been a member, Sunday afternoon with the Reverend Matthews of Pine- hurst officiating, and burial was in Green Grove Cemetery near Cameron, with lovely flowers banking the grave. Henry Bryan showed lantern slides pertaining to home planning, which were enjoyed. Mrs. Winfrey Parker, Mrs. M. B. Clayton, Jr., Miss Lessie Bai ley and Miss Marian Bailey were visitors. Refreshments and a social hour were enjoyed. Church Services Back from annual conference, the Rev. J. O. Long will preach his first sermon in- his fourth year here Sunday morning. The public is invited out to greet the “new preacher.” The Rev. C. K. Taffe will preach at the Presbyterian Church Sunday evening at 7:30. Personals Clyde Cox, Jr., who has been suffering- with rheumati(r‘ fever, went back to Sanford Saturday for an examination and he was advised to remain in bed for three weeks. He is at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Cox. Mrs. Naud Brooks, formerly of Sanford, has come to make her home with her brother - m-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Cox. Miss Ollie Cranford of Concord was a weekend guest in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jeffreys and family. Irby left Thursday of last week for Atlanta to spend a few days with Lieutenant Irby. Miss Martha McKay of Buie’s Creek spent the weekend with her sister, Mrs. A. M. Cameron. Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Smith and Mrs. W. J. Cameron of Vass and Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Cameron of Manly spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. David Gillis and family of Mount Olive. The Rev. C. K. Taffe and Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Gladstone were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Wilson and Mrs. D. C. McGill. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Odom have returned to their home in Lake view from Greensboro. Mr. and Mrs. R. E.
