Nine more County 4-H boys and one 4-H girl are using their Christmas vacations to plant a total of 22,000 pine seedlings on their home farms. W. G. Caldwell, assistant coun ty farm agent in charge of boys’ 4-H work, said the trees are be ing provided free of charge by a pulpwood company. The young people are doing the tree-planting job themselves. The one young lady on the pro ject is Marian Parsons, of Jack- son Springs, who is planting 1,000 trees. The boys, and the number of their trees, are: Watts Auman, West End, 5,000; Billy Jackson, West End, 1,000; Harold Lee Gris;- som, Carthage, Rt. 3, 3,000; Mar shall F. Ragsdale, Carthage, Rt. 3, 1,000; Robert Lee Holder, Car thage, 5,000; Paul Golden Priest, Carthage, 2,000; Bill Upchurch, Highfalls, 1,000; Clinton Comer, Steeds, 2,000; Daniel Britt, Star, Rt. 1, 1,000. Teams Meet Sunday In Sandpiper Finals The team of W. L. Batchelor and Howard F. Burns will meet that of Barrett Harriss and Joe Montesanti, Jr., on the Pine Needles golf course Sunday, in the finals of the Sandpiper best- ball-of - pair tournament which has been under way for several weeks. " Sixteen teams started and 14 have been gradually eliminated. Several matches have had to be played ever on account of ties, ’.nd one or two have also run very *ong, maintaining the suspense.
