Frye and Mrs. Frye attended the State teachers meeting in Raleigh Friday and then went to the Wake Forest- Maryland game Saturday. They spent the week-end in Washing ton, D. C., ^ith their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Maltby. They were accompan ied by their son Nelson on the trip. Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Adams were in Charlotte for the weekend with relatives. Mrs. W. G. Brown and Mrs. Co lin G. Spencer were hostesses to the John Blue Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confed eracy on Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Brown on Bar rett street. Mrs. Bertha Sheffield is spend ing this week with her sister, Mrs. E. C. Morris, in Concord. Mrs. P. H. McDonald and little grandson, Joel Kiker, left Friday for Dayton, Ohio, to be with Mrs. Kiker, who expects to be home from the Miami VaUey Hospital within a few days. They motored to Dayton with Miss York Kiker and her mother from Wadesboro. Dr. and Mrs. George Heinitsh of Southern Pines and Mr. and Mrs. R. N. Page, Jr., of Aberdeen were Sunday guests of Mrs. Charles T. Grier and Mrs. W. G. Brown. Miss Margaret Wicker, super visor of nurses at Emory Univer sity Hospital in Georgia, is spend ing a two weeks’ vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Wicker, on Rt. 2. Miss Wicker, her parents, and sister. Miss Kath arine Wicker of Sanford, were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Caddell Sunday night. The Rev. C. K. Taffe of Cam eron visited R. W. Pleasants a day last week. Miss Ann Eller of Flora Mac donald College, Red Springs, spent the weekend with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Eller, Miss EUer had as her guests Miss Rogers, sm instructor in the col- llege, and Misses Martha Steppe and Julia Lee Ribet, classmates. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Blue Mc Donald, Jr., and son, Earl Blue HI, of Chapel Hill, were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. B. McDonald. Temple Dalrymple of New York City spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. M. G. Dalrymple. Mrs. E. C. Morris and son, E. C. Jr., of Concord, and Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Holt of Fayetteville spent Sunday with Mrs. B. F. Whitlock. Misses Betty and Elizabeth Norman of Henderson and Dobson were weekend guests of their sis ter, Mrs. Holt McNeill. R. W. Pleasants returned home Sunday from a three-day stay in the Moore County Hospital and is convalescing at his home on Sanford Road. Mr. and Mrs. Colin G. Spencer visited Mrs. John Neely in Ashe- boro Sunday afternoon. They were accompanied by Misses Mary Spencer and Lynn Currie. Jerry McLean, student in the school of pharmacy at the Uni versity of North Carolina, spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Lynn McLean. Mrs. Kittie Hilliard and Mrs. Mattie Baker and son, Charles Baker, of Southern Pines visited in the home of Mrs. B. F. Whit lock Sunday. Mrs. Beulah Phillips attended the revival services last week at Cool Springs Methodist Church and left Sunday for an extended visit with her daughter, Mrs. John Wehrle, in Charleston, West Va. John Kelly, Jr., student at Richmond Professional Institute, Richmond, Va., and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Young and two daught ers of Bennett spent the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. John R.
