Miss Clara Harper entertained
a number of young folks at an
outdoor supper party Tuesday
evening at the home of her pa
rents, Mr. and Mrs. "Walter Harp
er on Kensington Road. The
party was given for two of her
classmates, Katie Butler and
Dianne Adams, as a farewell ges
ture. Katie will spend the winter
in Pleasantville, N. Y. with her
family and Dianne will be with
her parents in Hartsville, S'. C.
After cooking their supper in
the backyard, games were en
joyed in the newly painted and
decorated basement playroom.

Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Howard had
the pleasure of having their entire
family together Sunday for the
first time since their grandchil
dren have reached the number of

to Morrow Mountain, near Albe
marle, where they enjoyed a pic
nic dinner.

Vernon Methodist Church with

and Richard T. Penn, father of the
bride, violinist.
Given in marriage by her fath
er, the bride wore a gownl of im
ported Chantilly lace, hand apph-
qued over satin, with yoke of irrl-
ported silk illusion, and long lace
sleeves ending in points on the
hands. The satin skirt was over
laid with lace terminating iii a full
cathedral train. Her three-tiered
fingertip veil fell from a shaped
lace shell edged in seed pearls and
she carried a bouquet of white
roses and lilies-of-the-valley.

Indiana avenue. Mr. Richmond
arrived later to accompany his
family back to heir home in Los
Angeles, Calif., where he is an
inventor and manufacturer of
Door-King, the radio controlled
garage door.
Enroute to the west coast, they
stopped in Baltimore for a day
with Mrs. Richmond’s sister, Mrs.
Samuel W. Cox and Capt. Cox.
Mrs. Cox, the former Winifred
Kelley, is now the mother of five

The good attendance at the an
nual Sunday School picnic at
Pinebluff Lake on Wednesday
testified to the good judgment of
holding this event. Watching the
enjoyment of the children in the
lake water, under the supervision
of James Humphrey and James
Prim was certainly another
proof of it. While the food was
vanishing from the loaded re
freshment tables, the arrival of
Dr. and Mrs. Timmons, comple
ted the enjoyment of the day.
INS AND OUTS
Dr. and Mrs. Robert McMillan
and daughters, Julia and
toft last week for New York City,
where they met their son, John,
who has been in school in New
Hampshire" this summer. They
plan to spend about two weeks
in the city—sight-seeing with
toe children, attending several
plays and ballgames. Before their
return they will be guests for a
few days of the William Camp
bells at their summer place on
Fisher’s Island.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. Walker
have returned home after a nme
weeks’ stay at Sandy Lake, Pa.
Mrs William J. Ryan and chil
dren, Ricky and Kevin have re
turned from Connecticut where
they have been visiting several
weeks.
Mrs Lament Brown and chil
dren, Lament, Jr., Ronnie and
Elizabeth are visiting her parents,
Mr and Mrs. R. N. Ward in
Greenville, S. C. Mr. Brown ac-

Avenue, Mrs. Marguerite Stogner
and two children, Marcie and
Phil of Greensboro.
