I The annouiicement was made by Mrs. J. E. Causey, chairman of junior Red Cross work, as the Board of Directors held one of a j series of orientation meetings at the Dixie Inn in Vass. j She said also that a number of articles had been made by mem bers and would be shipped to Donaldson Air Force Base in Greenville, S. C. for distribution there. j Lynn Warren, Red Cross field ' representative, was principal speaker at the meeting, explain ing the work of the international agency in disaster preparedness and relief. i Others appearing on the pro-* gram were Mrs. Audrey Ken nedy, executive secretary of the county chapter, who discussed home service and other activi ties available, and Donald Ken nedy, fund chairman for 1957, who announced the drive would occur, as usual, in March. He urged the directors to begin thinking about the drive and start making their plans. Queen Victoria popularized preserved ginger. She liked the pungent candied spice from China, a novelty in her day, so well that she served it at state banquets.
