E. Humphrey
wins Photo Prize
In CPPA Contest
A photo by Emerson Hum
phrey, local professional photog
rapher, has won third place and
a $20 prize in the Grandfather
Mountain Division of the Grand
father -Mountain Camera Clinic,
held last September.
The award was announced last
week at a meeting of the Caro-
linas Press Photographers Asso
ciation in Charleston, S. C. The
association sponsored the clinic
at Grandfather Mountain in
western North Carolina last year.
Mr. Humphrey’s winning pho
tograph shows Miss Marcie
Hampton, the Association’s
“Photo Queen” leaping graceful
ly through the air against a back-
pound of twin mountain peaks,
in such a manner that it appears
she is jumping from one moun
tain to the other.
“Happy Enough to Fly” was
the caption used on it when it
appeared in state papers.
Mr. Humphrey is a former
vice-president of the CPPA and
