A delicious turkey dinner with all the trimmings was served by candlelight in a Christmas set ting. 'The Rev. Fant Steele gave the invocation, and C. L. Tyson wel comed the ladies. Mrs. G. E. Griffin responded. A. G. Ed wards, Jr., program chairman, in troduced the guest speaker, L. L. Wcolley of Southern Pines, who kept the group highly entertain ed for some time with a round of jokes, followed by an inspiring message in serious vein. Attending the dinner were H. A. Christmas Pageant “'The Holy Nativity,” a Christ mas pageant, will be presented by members of the Vass Metho dist Youth Fellowship, assisted by several others, at 7:30 o’clock Sunday night, December 22. A brief worship service will pre cede the pageant, with special music by a group of children. The public is invited to attend. Joy Gift Service The annual Joy Gift Christmas program will be given at Cypress Presbyterian Church at 7 ;30 p. m, on Christmas Eve. Music Recital Mrs. Herbert Mclnnis present ed her piano pupils in a recital at the school Sunday afternoon, with parents and special guests in attendance. After the program punch and cookies were served. Service Well Attended A crowd which practically fill ed the Vass Presbyterian Church attended the Christmas pageant, “Christmas Angels,” presented last Sunday night. The Rev. A. C. Trivette presided during the opening exercises, during which be exolained the annual Joy Gift, for retired ministers and their widows, and an offering was made. , The pageant, presented in an attractive setting, featured Christmas angels, the manger scene, shepherds. Wise Men, car olers, choir, and a number of children. David Crocket was the reader, and the production, which was very impressive and carried a real Christmas message, was directed by Mrs. W. E. Glad stone. There will be no service at the Presbyterian Church the fourth Sunday night, the pastor an nounced. Woman's Club Fifteen members of the Vass Woman’s Club went to Sanford last Friday evening to see the Christmas decorations and ar rangements at Frank’s flower shop. They were delighted with v/hat they saw, and gained many ideas which they planned to put into practice. The group returned to the home of Mrs. Henry Klingen- schmidt for the business and so cial program. Going from Vass to’ attend the funeral Wednesday were Mrs. Key, Mr. and Mrs. James Key, and Mrs. Herbert Caddell. Circles Meet The Jane McGill Circle of the Presbyterian . Church met last week with its chairman, Mrs Ben H. Wood, who presided over the business session. Plans for spreading Christmas cheer were made. Mrs. C. C. Crockett pre sented a Christmas program and Mrs. P. A. Wilson led the Bible study. A salad course and Christ mas cookies were served. Circle 1 met Monday night at the home of Mrs. M. M. Chap pell with her daughter, Mrs. Don ald Jessup of Sanford, as hostess. Mrs. Kenneth Hinsley was in charge of the program and Mrs. Jessup led the Bible study. Plans were made for helping a family at Christmas. Family Supper A family Christmas supper will be held at the Vass Baptist Church at 6:30 Monday evening, to be followed by the singing of carols, and a Christmas tree. A Daughter Mr. and Mrs. James E. Hudson are the parents of a third daugh ter, born at Lee County Hospi tal Monday, December 16, weigh ing seven pounds, 15 ounces. Their other children are Connie Sue and Marsha Kaye. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Harold Williams and son, Danny, and Mrs. Billy Jessup and children attended a Christmas party given by Pacific Mills of Raeford for employees and their families Sunday after noon. Mrs. A. L. Keith, Misses Kay and Doreene Keith and Richard Keith spent Saturday in Greens boro. Kay was here for the week end from Ramseur, where she is employed by Brady Manufactur ing Company. She completed her business course in Raleigh a short while ago. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Thomas and daughter Peggy of near Lemon Springs were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. James Key 'Tues day. Sgt. and Mrs. Lawrence Buie and little daughter, Pam, and Ted Rosser spent Sunday in Ben- netts'/ille, S. C., visiting Mr. and Mrs. Tony Rosser. Mrs. S. W. Blake and Miss Mar garet Blake of Sanford visited Miss Bessie Cameron Sunday afternoon. Beal and Mrs. Ted Rosser visit ed Mrs. B. F. Lane at her home in Bynum, Simday. The Rev. and Mrs. Fant Steele and baby, Melinda, went to Rock Hiil, S. C., Monday evening to see his grandmother, Mrs. Mollie Steele, who is critically ill after suffering a stroke last Friday. They came home Tuesday eve ning. Mr. and Mrs. J. B.
