89, Dies After
Lengthy Illness
Mrs. J. A. Wilkes
Of Pinebluff
Died On Tuesday
Mrs. J. A. Wilkes, 80, of Pine
bluff, died Tuesday at Moore
Memorial Hospital.
Funeral sefvices were held at
Mark’s Creek Presbyterian
Church near Hamlet today at 3
p.m. conducted by the pastor, the
Rev. A. T. Taylor, with burial in
the church cemetery.
She was the former Pfenelope
Alice Wilkes of Richmond County
who moved to Pinebluff several
years ago to make her home. Her
husband died in 1950.
Surviving are four daughters,
Mrs. George Hudson, Pinebluff;
Mrs. George Vest, Aberdeen; Mrs.
J. T. Thomas, Mississippi City,
Miss., and Mrs. H. L. York, Hoff
man; two sons, J. A. Wilkes, Jr.,
Wagram, and C. W. Wilkes, Pine
bluff; and 20 grandchildren.
