There will also be two mem bers selected from this year's group to act as student advisors on next year’s Council. Junior-Senior Prom The most “looked-forward-to” event of the year was a wonder ful night at Whispering Pines last Friday—the Junior-Senior Prom. It was a lovely dance, but ended much too quickly for most. The large group danced to the music of “The Plaids,” an ex cellent band which the Juniors hired. Entertaining also were a juggler, L’il Abner ( Abner Har rington) and our own Sharon Mc Donald', with several vocal selec tions. Legionnaire Supper The local Legion Post enter tained the basketball teams and those affiliated with the teams, last Saturday night at the Legion Hut, with a chicken supper. After the delicious meal, the group enjoyed a color film of last year’s Duke-West Virginia basketball game. Typing Contest Wiley Barrett and Jimmy Hus sey, representing Typing I, and Lynda Hinson, representing Typ ing II, went to St. Andrews Col lege last Friday for the annual typing contest. None of these students won awards as such, but each of them was rewarded with the experience of competi' tive typing. This is the first time that Pinehurst has sent students to the contest, so next year typing students will know how to pre pare for it. Attorney Speaks In the observance of National Law Day, May 1, Pinehurst High School students heard a fine speech last week by attorney Arthur Rowe from Aberdeen. Baseball This past week, the Rebels baseball team played their games “on the road.” High Falls was defeated Mon day by the powerful Rebs by s 4-1 score. Don Vest was credited with the win. Pinehurst visited Vass-Lake- view Tuesday. Results will ap' pear next week. The Blue Knights collected one run in the first inning when Daiiny Crowley singled and ad vanced' on throwing errors when stealing and scored when there was a bad throw from the out fielder. In the second inning Cullen Fisher hit a ground rule double in the bushes growing on the fence, and scored Later on a sacrifice. The Blue Einlghts pick ed up another run in the third inning on three consecutive sing les by J ackson, Bradley, and Rowe. In the fourth inning the Blue Knights picked up the winning run and an insurance run. Savhe outstanding plays were made on defense when Keith Jackson caught a pop fly in foul territory and snagged a line drive, and when Cullen Fisher made a fine catch of a long fly ball in the top of the seventh inning.
