enter at North Carolina State
Fair, it’s time to wrap it, bottle
it, can it or "vfhat ever you have
to do to get it ready for competi
tion. Closing time for all entries
is just around the corner.
All entries in culinary must be
in by Friday, October 9, at 6 pm.
Exhibits must be at the Fair by
Sunday, October 11, at 6 pm, as
judging will begin on Monday,
October 12 at 8 am.
Exhibitors are reminded that
all entries must be accompanied
by official printed forms. Sepa
rate entry blanks are required
for each department. Copies of
these may be found in the back

terians honored the ReV- and
Mrs. Tom Kernan Sunday eve
ning with a going away party.
The Kernans moved Tuesday to
their new charge in West Virgin
ia. The organizations of the
church were represented and
paid tribute to their beloved pas
tor and wife. Harris Blake spoke
in behalf of the Men of the
Church, Mrs. John C. Blue repre
sented the Women of the Church;
Tommy McCall, the Senior High
Fellowship and Lisa, Kathy and
Lori Gallimore sang a tribute in
behalf of the kindergarten group.
Mrs. Perry Gallimore present
ed the honorees a gift in behalf
of the church women and Judy
Blue presented a gift from the
Senior High Fellowship. Nancy
Sherrill presented them with a
scrap book of pictures taken at
a recent party which honored the
Kernans. The men sang a tribute,
using a fishing theme since the
Rev. Mr. Kernan enjoys that
sport.
Mrs. Woodard Sherrill present
ed a remembrance book which
included all that was done during
the last few days at Jackson
Springs. A highlight of the party
was the ladies’ “mourning” cho
rus which was on the lighter side
with appropriate words written
by Mrs. Elmer Blue who served as
chairman for the get-together.
The Junior and Senior groups
closed the tributes with the song.
“May the Good Lord Bless and
Keep You.” The hostesses for the
social hour were Mrs. Woodford
Sherrill, Mrs. Marvin Poole and
Mrs. Perry Gallimore.
The Rev. Lacy McDuffie will
be the supply pastor at the
church.
