A Colored Man Thanks Temperance Forces. Being u colored mac, it would hurdlv ue expected ibnt 1 write for publication. But I wish, in behalf of the colored race, to thauk the temperance forces of Johnston county, and especially of Clayton, for dosing the dis pensary, thereby removing the temptation from the moderate drinkers, especially of my own race. While the dispensary was open, I, as well as mane otheis of my race would go to Clayton and usually spend some money and time and get nothing in re turn except remorse of conscience. Now we can go, transact our business and return sober, with a clear head and conscience. If my own race will grasp this op portunity for sobriety, which j the closing of the dispensary gives us and practice thrift and i economy we can better our con dition very much. We wish to heartily endorse this movement on the part of the temperance people, hoping aud praying that this state of affairs may never grow worse but better and bet ter day by day.
