Mrs McCluskey is the daughter of j Mrs Laura Taylor, of this city and I the late Henry D. Taylor. She is a | graduate of the local school and later attended W C. U. N. C., Greensboro. She has made her home in Greens | boro for a number of years and is employed with the A. and Y. railroad i company there. The groom is from Wheeling, W. Visit in Town Sunday CITCHIN -RAY A mintage of intereai in Nortk Carolina and Virginia took place on Saturday morning at 11:30 o'clock in the Firat Presbyterian Church when Miss Mary Virginia Ray, daughter of John Smith Ray. of Fay etteville, and the late Sara Gilchrist Ray. became the bride of Frank Story Cutchin. son of Dr and Mrs Ashley Philip Cutchin, of Franklin, Va. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Z. T. Piephoff, pastor of the church, The church was decorated with Ascension lilies, white snapdragons, ferns, palms, and cathedral candles During the ceremony. Mrs Wheeler Martin and Charles Leonard, violin ist, played the Meditation from Mas senet's "Thais", following a program which included Saint-Saens' "Le Cygnc," Rubinstein's "Melody in F"' and My Heart at Thy Sweet Voice from Saint-Saens' "Samson and De lilah." The bride was escorted by her bro ther, John McNeill Ray, by whom she was given in marriage She wore a costume suit of navy with blue and white accessories Her flowers were a corsage of gardenias and lilies of the valley. Mrs Cutchin, mother of the groom, wore a costume of violet wool sheer with a corsage of Columbia roses and lilies of the valley. The bridegroom had his father for his best man. The ushers wera Har mon Smith, of Fayetteville, and Ash ley Philip Cutchin, Jr., of Hopewell Va The bride is a grand-daughter of the late Randall and Mary Darroch Gilchrist and of the late Neil L. and Martha Black.Ray. On her paternal side, she is descended from the High landers who some two hundred years ago emigrated from Scotland and came to settle in the Upper Cape Fear Valley Through her father, she is related to the Smith and .McNeill families of North Carolina and is a descendant of Jennie Bahn MacNeill of Revolutionary fame. Mr. Cutchin attended Woodberry Forest School and was graduated from there in 1926. Later he enter ed the University of Virginia from which he was graduated in 1932. In June of that year he was admitted to the Virginia bar, and afterward continued his studies in law at the university. Mrs. Cutchin is associated with the Carolina Telephone Company in its' offices here and will continue her work here for the present I ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Jones, of Red Springs, announce the engage ment of their daughter, Clara Loqise, to Dr. Ernest Whitmal Furgurson, of Plymouth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Furgurson, of Loutsburg. Miss Jones was a member of' the local school faculty term before last, and Dr. Furgurson served the county as its first full-time health officer.
