The adults of Jackson County may

Pfc. Clyde J. Smith, son of Mr. and
Mrs. L. J. Smith, Cullowhee, North
Carolina, is completing his training
on a Liberator bomber at the Pueblo
Army Air Base, Pueblo, Colo. He is
the top turret gunner of his crew, and
is being fitted as a valuable member
of a combat "team" that will carry
!he fight into enemy territory.
Pfc. Smith entered the service in
November, 1942.

The Dillsboro school prepared a
Thanksgiving box for Moore Hospital
estimated at $30.45. ? The box con
tained apples, walnuts, cigarettes,"
ash trays, handkerchiefs, toilet arti
cles and the like. Sylva has con
tributed to Moore Hospital but no
itemized report has been submitted.
A little more than $100.00 was spent
for materials to make the article con
tributed. They were:

letter to the boys and girls who have
done this splendid work:
"If you could have seen the pretty
things before we packed the Christ
mas box to send to the soldiers at
Moore Hospital, I believe you would
hav.e been proud that you had a part
in it.' The boys and girls of the Cul
lowhee school decorated the book
ends with bright colors," and they
were so pretty that I wanted a pair
for myself. With the help of the
college girls, they stained and shel
laced the lap boards, too. We wish
tc thank the girls of the Home Eco
nomics classes of the Sylva and Cul
lowhee schools for making the hand
kerchiefs.
We plan to fill boxes for some
w
school children in the European
:ountries about the first of Feb. These
will contain pencils, crayons, rulers,
etc. If you would like to send us
some of these things or some money,
it wiH be welcome.

Funeral services for Janie Sue
Frizzell, who died Saturday Dec. 30,
at 3:30 P. M., in the Harris Community
Hospital following a three weeks' ill
ness, were held Monday afternoon at
Little Savannah Baptist Church with
Rev. W. N. Corfk conducting the ser
vice.

All Property Owners and Taxpayers in Jackson County are required to
return to the List-Takers for Taxation for the year 1945 all the Real Estate,
Personal Property, Etc., which each shall own on the First Day of January.
All male persons between the ages of 21-50 are required to list their polte\
during the same time.

Poll Tax and fail to give in their Property and Poll-will be deemed guilty of a
