Roberts is stationed in B&mbur,
Germany in Co. B, 2nd Bn., 54th
Infantry. He is an armored per
sonnel carrier driver. After fin
ishing school at Marshall in 1963,
he entered the Army and received
his basic training at Fort Gordon,
Ga. He has been in Germany for
a year. He recently visited his
sister and brother-in-law, Sp. 5
Charles E. Hunter and family who
live in Boelengen, Germany.

Germany, Jan. 8.
Sergeant Griffin received five
weeks of rigorous training in lead
ership and exercise of command,
map reading, the history of weap
ons and military teaching meth
ods. He is a member of Battery C,
3d Howitzer Battalion, of the di
vision's 76th Artillery. Griffin
entered the Anmy in July 1957
and was stationed at Fort Hood,
Texas before arriving overseas in
July 1964 on this tour of duty.

Willard W. Cole, 81. of Hen
dersonville Rt 5, died Thursday
night. January 14, 1966 at the
home of a sister, Mrs. Tennis
Swann of Hendersonville, after a
long illness
He was a nativs of Madison
County and had resided in Hender
sonville for 16 years. Ht was a
member of Laurel Union Meth
odist Church.
Services were held at 2 p. m.,
Sunday in the Paint Gap Baptist
Church.
The Rev. Claude Rice and the
Rev. Bert Styles officiated and
burial was in Metcalf Cemetery
in Yancey County.

Leroy Johnson, Hot Springs, was
assigned to the U. S. Signal Group
on Okinawa, Dec. 31.
A communications center spe
cialist in the group's 999th Sig
nal Company, Johnson entered the
Army in June 1964 and received
basic training at Fort Gordon, Ga.
He is a 1964 graduate of Hot
Springs High School.
