Madison County will join 250
boys and girls from seven states
at the 17th annual 4 H Regional
Resource Development Con
lerence at Fontana Village,

The delegates are Miss Reita
Sluder, daughter of Mr and
Mrs Lon Sluder, Route 5,
Marshall, and Jerry Cody, son
of Mr and Mrs Plumer Cody,
Routes, Marshall In addition to
Ihe 4-H'ers, Mrs Patsy Davis,
I H leader of the Pioneer 4-H
Club in Madison County, will
attend the conference as an
adult leader
The theme of the Conference
is "Dawn of Our Day " In
keeping with the theme, the 4
II ers will study the natural
resources of the Valley soils,
lorests, atmosphere, water,
minerals, wildlife and human
Specialists from the land-grant
universities of the Valley states
will serve as resource leaders
A major goal of the Con
lerence is to help 4-H'ers un
derstand how their future is

L. Burns Hunter, 71, of Rt. 6,
Marshall, was dead on arrival
at 9:15 a. m. Saturday, May 20,
1972. at an Asheville hospial
after an apparent heart attack.
He was a native of Madison
County and a retired farmer of
die Walnut Creek community.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs.
Nannie Ball Hunter; four sons,
Melvin B. of Woodfin and
Clarence, Wade and Ijeonard
Hunter of Rt. 6, Marshall; four
daughters, Mrs. Ernest Ball of
Rt. 6, Marshall, Mrs. lister
Uwis of Rt. 5, Marshall, Mrs.
Scott Warren of Candler, Mrs.
Hubert Deal. Jr., of Knoxville,
Tenn.; a brother, W. B. Hunter
of Swannanoa; 19 grand

grandchildren. Services were held at 2:30 p.
m Monday in Walnut Creek
Baptist Church, of which he was
a member for 43 years.
