months in the European theater
as a radar operator on a B-17. He
is now stationed at the Army Air
Forces Overseas Replacement De
pot at Greensboro. He is entitled
lo wear the European theater rib
bon with four battle stars. Ah
Medal, three Oak Leaf Clusters,
American theater, Good Conduct,
and Victory medal, and a Presiden
tial Unit Citation with one Oak
Leaf Cluster.
Following the marriage Cpl. and
Mrs. Byrnes left for a short wed
ding trip to Danville, Va., after
which they came to Waynesville
for a visit to the bride's mother,
and have since returned to Greens
boro. Mrs. Byrnes plans to complete
her studies at Woman's College and
at the conclusion of the school year
she and her husband will make
their home in Greensboro.

the young couple will make their
home.

tives from Waynesville are plan
ning to attend the marriage on
Wednesday, the 17th.

acy will hold the April meeting
with Mrs. Thad Chafin at lier home
on the Fairview Road tomorrow

Mrs. Kriedel Knopf was hostess
on Friday evening of a party given
in compliment to Corporal and
Mrs. William Addison Byrnes, Jr..
of Greensboro. Mrs. Byrnes was
before her marriage Miss Martha
Mae Wyche.
For the occasion the home was
decorated in Spring (lowers. Danc
ing featured the entertainment of
the evening. The guest list was
made up of a number of the college
group home for Spring vacations.

Mr. and Mrs. R. Joyce Owen, of
Canton, have announced the mar
riage of their daughter. Miss Edna
Violet Owen, to Ensign Martin
Vaughn Bramlett. Jr . CSNR. son
of Mr. and Mrs. M V. Bramlett.
also of Canton. The wedding took
place on March 16. in Titusville.

The bride wore n white linen
suit with while accessories. Her
corsage was an orchid and her only
ornament, a pearl necklace, gift of
the bridegroom.
Lt. ijgi Bob Keller. USNK. and
Miss Joyce Owen, sister of the
bride accompanied the couple to
Titusville.
Mrs. Branilette received her
education in the Canton schools
and Western Carolina Teachers
College. She was until recently
employed by the Army Airways
Communication System. Army Air
Forces, at Langley Field. Va.
Ensign Branilette is a gradiinte
of the Canton high school, and
entered the services in the United
States Marine Corps on September
15, 1942. He was accepted as a
naval aviation cadet under the V-.r)
program and received his wings at
Pensaeola, Fla , on September 11,
l!)4.r. He is now on leave alter
advanced training in PIIM's at
Banana River, Florida, and will re
port to Alameda, Calif., on April
11, for overseas assignment.
