IKE'S AIDE CHEERED BY CROWD IN GOOD SPIRITS is Walter Robertson (right), trouble-shooter for President Eisenhower in Korea, as he leaves the longest talk he has yet held with South Korean President Syngman Rhee. With him is U. S. Ambassador Robert Murphy. In addition to reported progress made In his negotiations with Dr. Rhee, the Assistant Secretary of State was cheered by the friendly reception given him by civilians and children in Seoul, the South Korean capital. (International) White Oak CDP Raises Funds For 4-H Tour By MRS. GEORGE BORING Community Reporter At the White Oak Community Development meeting Saturday night, at the Community House, the entire program was arranged to raise the sixty dollars needed to send Miss Patsy Davis, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Davis, to the 4-H Exchange Tour to Mas sachusetts as a representative from this community. Ninety-one home folks and guests enjoyed the "pie auction," "cake walks," "guess cake," and "fish pond". The amount of money needed was cleared and every one seemed to have fun do ing it. Teague Williams, chairman, acted as auctioneer and Mrs. George Boring as cashier. Mrs. Nell Reese, aa guest, won the guess cake which was baked by Mrs. Rowe Ledford. Music for the event was furnish ed by a three piece string' band which really could make music. Billy Kirkpatrick played the guitar. Raymond Setzer the guitar, and Calvin Messer was the fiddler, and they also sang several hill-billy selections. One feature that was enjoyed was the buck-and-wing and clog dancing by Elbert Phil lips of this'community and Tom Killian of Maggie. Guests at this meeting were: Mr. and Mrs. Paul Reese of St. Petersburg, Fla., who are visiting Mr. and Mrs. George Boring; Mrs. Mildred McGinniss of Washington, D. C., and Miss Anna Louise Alex ander of Washington, visiting Mrs. McGinniss' parents Mr. and Mrs, Amos Hunter; Tom Killian, Ray mond Setzer, and Calvin Messer of Maggie community; Mrs. Susie Oli phant of the Fines Creek Com munity. All the ladies donating cakes and pies are to be congratulated for a job well done. Chairman Teague Williams pre sided at the meeting and read the scripture with France Teague lead ing in prayer. Most of the busines was disposed of and announce ment was made that Allen's Creek Community will visit White Oak Community on August 13; then on August 29, White Oak Community will be the guests of Cruso Community at Camp Hope. Group singing was enjoyed. The next regular meeting will be August 1, at the Community House. It has been estimated that ex panding U. S. populations will re quire available acreage in the na tion to produce 28 per cent more by 1975 in order to maintain pres ent standards. | Coping With A Shiny Nose By VIVIAN BROWN AP Newsfeatures Beauty Editor Is my face shiny?
