W. Garrett, and Miss Robina Miller were hostesses of a luncheon meeting of the Haywood Chapter, United Daugh ters of the Confederacy, Friday in the home of Mrs. Howell. Christmas decorations were used throughout the home and record ings of carols were played during luncheon. The program was presented by Mrs. C. F. Kirkpatrick. Mrs. W. F. Swift read "The Keeper of the Inn," and the group sang carols. Mrs. Roy Campbell presided during the business hour and a memorial service to the late Mrs. W. L. Kirkpatrick was conducted by Mrs. J. R. Boyd. Guests were Mrs. Earl H. Brend all and Miss Ruth N. Jones. * * * Junaluska PTA To Have Supper-Program The Lake Junaluska Parent Teacher Association will meet for a covered dish supper Monday, December 14, at 6:30 p.m., in the school cafeteria. Following the supper a program will be presented in the auditor ium. The Rev. J. H. Coleman will be the speaker and devotions will be given by students of the fifth grade. Mr. Coleman's subject will be "Character and Spiritual Edu cation." The Good Neighbors Club of Center Pigeon met at the hdme of Mrs. O. T. Henderson and elected the following: Mrs. Frank Mease, president; Mrs. Jim Queen, first vice president; Mrs. Harold Pres sley, second vice-president; Mrs. Robert Clark, secretary;-Mrs. M. V. Bramlett, treasurer; Mrs. Clarfi, publicity chairman; and Mrs. Crawford Mease, historian. New officers of the Jonathan Creek Club were named at an all day meetings in tbe home of Mrs. Grady Howell. They are Mrs. R. W. Howell, president; Mrs. W. T. Rainer, first 'vice president; Mrs. Way Fisher, second vice presi dent; Mrs. M. W. Barbee, secre tary; Mrs. Leland Garnett, treas urer; and Mrs. Irene Hudson, his torian. A Christmas party was held by the Fairview Club in the home of Mrs. Fred Plott and officers were elected as follows; Mrs. R. J. Fow ler, president; Mrs. W. F. Swift, 1st vice president; Mrs. Ernest Green, 2nd vice president; Mrs. Arley Tilley, secretary; Mrs. Thad Chatin, traesurei; Mrs. Ben Price assistant secretary-treasurer; and Mrs. W. A. Hyatt, historian. A Christmas party and election of officers was held by the Maggie Club in the home of Mrs. Herbert Plott. The officers for next year include Mrs. C. L. White, presi dent; Mrs. Harbert Plott, 1st vice president; Mrs. Hattie Grasty, sec ond vice president; Mrs. Jack Campbell, secretary - treasurer; and Mrs. Sandy McCracken and Miss Elva Burnette, historians. Officers for the Beaverdam Club were elected at a meeting held in the home of Mrs. Paul Robinson. They are Mrs. George Frady, president; Mrs. George Wright, 1st vice president; Mrs. Elmer Keen er, 2nd vice president; Mrs. C. C. Willis, secretary and treasurer; Mrs'. Roy Robinson, assistant sec retary-treasurer; and Mrs. Paul Robinson, historian. McBride R. G. Queen, of Augusta, Geor gia, has announced the engage ment of his daughter, Miss Donna Jo Queen of Waynesville to Wll- * liam McBride of Raleigh, son of ? Mr. and Mrs. R. C. McBride of Waynesville. The wedding is plan ned for December 26 in the Way nesville Presbyterian Church. The bride-eiect is the daughter of the late Mrs. Gerald W. Mooney and makes her home with her grandmother, Mrs. W. L. Lampkin. s>ne is a student at Western Caro lina College. Mr. McBride is employed with Western Electric in Raleigh. ? * * Allen's Creek Club Has Christmas Meet The Allen's Creek Home Dem onstration Club held its ^annual Christmas meeting Wednesday in the home of Mrs. Arthur Dills with Mrs. Hiram McCracken presiding. The demonstration on "Plan ning for Christmas," was given by Miss Mary Cornwell after which a Christmas dinner was served by the hostess. A social hour with an exchange of gifts was featured in the after noon. Mrs. Ernest Hyatt and Mrs. Ensley were special guests. ? ? ? Episcopalians Honor Mrs". McCracken With Supper Tuesday Evening A covered dish supper in honor of Mrs. J. R. McCracken will be held Tuesday evening, December ' 8, by the Women's Auxiliary of Grace Episcopal Church. Mrs. Mc Cracken has been serving as presi dent of the Auxiliary but plans to leave Waynesville this weekend for a new position in Charlotte. The supper, at 6:30 p.m. in the Church Parish House, will be fol lowed by a business meeting. All members of the Auxiliary and their families have been in vited to participate in the supper and to bring either a salad or hot dish. * * * When you are pan-broilingHrteak or chops, be sure to pour off any fat that accumulates in the skillet as the meat cooks. MISS DONNA JO QUERN, daughter of R. G. Queen of Augusta, Ga., and the late Mrs. Gerald W. Mooney, is engaged to William McBride of Raleigh, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. McBride of Waynes ville. The wedding will take place December 26 in the Waynes ville Presbyterian Church. Long's Chapel Guild Has Christmas Program The Wesleyan Service Guild of Long's Chapel Methodist Church will have its anual Christmas cele bration Tuesday night, December 8, at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will take place at the home of Mrs. William Freel. Mrs. Kenneth Stahl will present a special Christmas program.
