Girl Scout Cookie Sale Will Begin Tomorrow Girl Scouts In the Waynesville area will launch their annual Cookie Sals^ tomorrow. The aale. beginning now aa an activity of Qlrl Scoift Week, will continue for two week*. If thin goal ia achieved the Scouts will have $4,000 for the develop ment of their camp aite nehr Bre vard. Alio a 2-cent bonus on each box ia added to the Individual troop treasury. The Girl Scout Cookiea need no special advertising. They are known to be always freah and de licioua and are perfect for serving with light desserts, for after school snacks, and to clubs and church groups. Mrs. William Ray Is chairman of the sale in this area. Girl Scouts in the Waynesville area marked the opening of Girl Scout Week yesterday by attend ing church services in uniform. Other activities based on the theme, "This Ia Our Town," will be carried out throughout the week at regular troop meetings. On Friday at 9:30 a.m. a num ber of girls will appear on a pro gram televised over Station WLOS-TV, Asbevllle. Fifteen troops make up the Waynesville area, which includes Waynesville and Haielwood. The occasion was marked by capping exercises last week at which time Miss Sheffield received her nursing cap. Health, Music Leaders To Have Meetings Two special events have been planned for project leaders of Haywood County Home Demon stration Clubs. Health leaders will attend a Western North Carolina Rural Health Conference at the City Auditorium in Hickory on Wed nesday, March 14. Leaders who do not have trans portation are asked to contact the office of the home agent. On March 15 a Western North Carolina Music Leaders School will be held in the Presbyterian Church in Canton, beginning at 10 a.m. All music leaders are in vited. / ? * ? Dellwood?Mrs. Sam Potts. * * * Women Use Talents To Pay Church Debt The parable of the talents has been put Into actual practice by members of the Woman's Society of Christian Service of Elizabeth Chapel Methodist Church in Rat cliffe Cove, resulting in a tenfold gain and full payment of a church debt. On February 12, Mrs. James Medford. president of the WSCS, gave each member $1.00 and re quested that she use her talents to Increase the amount as far as possible to pay a $200 debt on cabinets in the church kitchen. Twenty-six members received the dollars. Proof that none of the talents was burled came two weeks later when the group met in the home of Mrs. Glenn Hipps and brought $284 for the treasury. As the members added their contribu tions, they told how they used the original dollars, adding their tal ents for cooking and sewing to in crease the amount. The final result ? the $200 debt paid in full and $84 remaining in the treasury. * * * DAR Will Meet With Mrs. Prevost The March meeting of the Dor ca? St. John's To Have St. Patrick's Dance A St. Patrick's Day dance for teen-agers is being planned by the Parent's Club of St. John's School. Ben Lee Ray, pastor of the church, assisted by the Rev. Joe Medford, brother in-law of the bridegroom. Tradi tional wedding music was present ed by Mrs. M. A. Harvey of Can ton, organist, aifil Carl Painter, Jr., of Waynesville, vocalist. Given in marriage by her fath er, the bride wore an Empire gown of white tulle and Chantilly lace over satin. The fitted bodice of lace featured 11 portrait neck line and tiny sleeves swathed with tulle, and the bouffant skirt, drift ed with Chantilly lace, swept into a chapel length train. Her fingertip veil of illusion fell from a shirred half hat outlined with seed pearls. She wore mitts of matching tulle, and her only ornament was a single strand of pearls. She carried a colonial bouquet of phalaenopsis and hya cinth florets centered with feath ered carnations, showered with "white satin streamers. wiisg jean wuiiams of Canton, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a dress of petal pink crystalette, designed with a portrait neckline, short sleeves, and a full skirt. Her headdress was of matching crystalette trimmed with rhlnestones. She carried a bouquet of mixed spring flowers. Bridesmaids were: Mrs. Judy Rhinehart, Miss Jean Kelly, both of Canton, Mrs. James Shope of Candler, and Mrs. Carl Gregory of Valdosta, Georgia. Junior at tendants were: Miss Nancy Ella Clark, cousin of the bride, and Miss Dianne Medford, cousin of the bridegroom. Their gowns of blue crystalette were identical in design to that of the honor attendant. They wore matching headdresses, and carried bouquets of mixed spring flowers. Flower girls were: Bobby Kay Reese and Janett Medford, both of Canton. They carried white bas kets filled with rose petals. Jeffrey Deweese of Canton was ringbear er. Robert Earl Devlin of Canton served as bCst man. Ushers were: Carl James Clark of Los Angeles, California, brother of the bride, James Shope of Candler, Ollis Parker and Sam Coman, both of Canton. Following the ceremony a re ception was held in the home of the bride's parents. Assisting in serving were: Miss Mary Lee Fletcher, Mrs. Clinton Williams. Mrs. Yoder Clark, aunts of the bride, Mrs. Joe Medford, sister of the bridegroom, and Mrs. Crystal Sorrells of Ashevtlle. After the reception the couple left for a short wedding tl#p.
