Holiday Events Are Planned By Canton Clubs "Keeping Christmas" will be the :heme of the Holiday House Tour and Flower Show, sponsored by the Canton Council of Garden Ciubs, Tuesday, December 18, from 2 p m. to 10 p.m. The flower show will be held in the assembly room of the Canton Public Library. The homes of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Freel and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hyatt will be included in the tour, and also the Canton Presbyterian Church. Mrs. A. W. Bottoms is serving rs general chairman of the event, with Mrs. Frank Vetoe, Jr. as co chairman. The following committees have j been named: Schedule, Mrs. James j B. Hurley; Staging, Mrs. J. Yule Lighting Contest To Be Held In Canton The Canton Council of Garden Clubs will sponsor a Christmas Lighting Contest Monday, Dec. 17 The contest will include two classifications, one for non-garden club members and the other will be for members of local garden clubs. Prizes will be awarded in both groups. C. Ferguson. Receiving with Miss Jones and Mrs. Mehaffey were Mrs. Linwood Grahl, mother of the bridegrooni fjlect, Mrs. Irvin Philman of Wash ington. D. C., sister of the bride groom-elect, and Mrs. Ferguson. During the first hour Mrs. J. M. Carver greeted the guests and Mrs. P. R. Kitchen and Mrs. Hubert Pless presided at the tea table. Mrs. Neeson Smith received at the front door during the second hour and Mrs. Rochelle Allison and Mrs. Billy Owen poured lea. Mrs. Edwin Russell also assisted. Christmas decorations were used throughout the house with the ex ception of the dining room where a bridal inotlf was used. The table was centered with an arrangement nf white chr\ santhemums and snap dragon with ivy. Two hundred guests were includ ed in the courtesy. Miss Jones and Dr. Grahl will be married December 30 in Kan napolis. She was a weekend guest of Mr. and Mrs. Linwood Grahl here. ' * * * The Mayflower, which brought the Pilgrims to this country in 1020. was dismantled in England in 1629.
