Hazelwood Teachers Are Entertained Carl Rctcliffe, principal of the llazeiwood Elementary t>cnooi. and Mrs. Kalclitte entertained mem bers of the school faculty at a tea Tuesday afternoon in their home on Hillside Terrace. Mrs. Lawrence Leatherwood and Miss Margaret Boy^l assisted in the dining room and Mrs. Ned Tucker anu Miss Eula Patterson re ceived in the living room. The tea table was covered with a red cloth and had as a center piece a star-shaped arrangement of evergreens with a red candle at each point. Miss Evelyn Siler, Mrs. Rufus Siler, and Lawrence Leatherwood, county scb^alijuperintcndent. * Woodmen Circle Has Annual Yule Banquet The Supreme Forest Woodmen Circle, Apple Grove 279, held its annual Christmas banquet Monday evening in the home of Mrs, Gar ritt Howell with one hundred per cent attendance. Special guests were Mrs. Ethel Donclson of Charlotte, national commit tee woman and state man ager. and Mrs. Agnes Stepp of IU ndersonville. national represen tative and former district manager. Mrs. George Milner, president of the group, presided. Food and clothing was collected for a Christ mas gift to a needy family. Following the dinner gifts were exchanged by the members. MRS. Traditional wedding music was pre sented by Miss Janice Smathers, organist, and Miss Jewel Hhine hart, vocalist, both of Clyde. The church was decorated with arrangements of white gladiolus and chrysanthemums, interspersed | wiui greenery ana ugniea capers. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white, imported rosepoiht lace over satin. 1 The fitted bodice was designed with a portrait neckline, and the tapered sleeves ended in points over the wrists. The bouffant skirt : extended into a chapel length train. Her two tiered veil of illusion was attached to a cap of matching lace, and her white Bible, a gift of the Y.W.A. of the church, was topped wtth a white orchid fin<T"^ showered with tube roses. She ' I wore a single strand of pearls, a j gift of the bridegroom. Mrs Troy Zacharv of Brevard 1 was matron of honor and only at- 1 Undant. She wore a ballerina | length gown of light blue nylon j net over taffeta, designed with a i fitted bodice and full skirt. SERVING HAYWOOD SINCE 1939 Yule Decorations To Be Judged Thursday Night Judging of outdoor Christmas decorations for the contest spon sored by the Richland Garden Club will take place Thursday night. De cember 20. according to Mrs. Wil liam Medford, chairman of the ccntest. The contest will include two divisions, one for homes and one lor commercial displays. The lat ter will also be divided into two classifications for those which carry out a Christmas theme and ihose which are usual type of decoration. Registration will not be neces sary since the judges will tour the entire community. However, if there are persons who feel that they might be missed and particu larly wish to be judged, they may call Mrs. Medford at GL 6-8915. Lake Junaluska residents are especially requested to call Mrs. Medford since the judges will have a limited time and will be unable to cover the entire grounds in search for decorations.
