The Mineral Springs Home Dem onstration Club met last' Thursday afternoon at ' the Bowdeh Presby terian' Church in the recreational room with Mrs. Lillian Carter as hostess. The meeting was opened with vhe inging of "This Is My Fathers World," followed by a business meeting presided over by Mrs. Nor man Parks. The meeting was closed with the repeating of the Club Collect fol lowed by a social hour at which time the hostess served punch and assorted cookies to Mesdames Leon Taylor, Norman Parks, Wadies Eng lish, I. Rotary Club Holds Dinner Meet The Warsaw Rotary club met for their regular ' dinner meeting last Thursday at the school cafeteria. A. M. Benton presided over the meeting and Bill Sheffield, fellow. ship chairman, presented Paul Potter with an anniversary gift. A report was gven on a project in which the ciub is to distribute "Four Way Tct" plaque to be placed in each o: the higff school classrooms and in the school lib rary. Training, Union Holds Study Course The Baptist Training Union held their annual Study Course every lught last week. Rev. Herbert Baker led the study lor'the adults and young people which was "A Church Revival." - The Intermediates had as their teacher, John A. Johnson who taught "Witnessing for Christ" and Mr. and Mrs, Bill Vann taught the older and younger juniors, Mr, Vann teaching "Jesus Saves" - and Mrs. Vann Teaching "The Junior Union Manual, On Monday evening following the study, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Strick land served refreshments and Fri day evening at the conclusion of the study, Mr., and Mrs. Bill Vann served refreshments. (Irs. Clco ll;!:!)s Presides At Mee Mrs. J. B. Torrans presided over '.he meeting which was opened with the singing of "The Old North State", followed by an effective de votional taken from "Home Life" and presented by Mrs. Orman Grice. Mrs. Torrans announced the Dis trict meeting which is to be held April 14th in Kenansville. Mrs. Johnson said that the way one dresses depends much on the locality in which one lives. Mrs. Johnsop gave the proper way to dress in the following occasions: I. Junior Class Entertained Members of the Junior Class en joyed a social hour following the Junior Class play on March 11th, given by Mrs. Edgar Pollock, Mrs. Kenneth Fussell and Mrs. V. A. Stancil at the Stanril home. Mrs. Tommy Phillips, director of the play was presented a camellia plant as a token of appreciation for her help with the play. Soft drinks, cookies, brownies, sandwiches and date bars were served to the class members, Mrs. Phillips and Class Sponsor, Bill Taylor and Mrs. Taylor. Mission Study Taught At GA Meet The Intermediate G. A. s en joyed a most interesting Home Mission Study Course, "Through A Cuban Window" taught by Mrs. John A. Johnson in the home of their counselor, Mrs. Eugene John stone last Tuesday afternoon at five o'clock. Mrs. Johnson gave a most vivid picture of the Cuban way of life, using most effectively attrac tive maps and posters, making the study even more interesting. A delicious supper was enjoyed at six o'clock and the study was resumed. G. A.'s attending the study were Joyce Braswell, Juanita Hinson, Joyce Potter, Ann Straughan, Pat Hubbard, Rebecca . Eason, Jackie Fussell, Judy Rollins, Becky House, Mavis Jones, Leitha Barnette and Nancy Johnstone. Hostess At Bridge Mrs. J. H. Wahab entertained members of her bridge club last Thursday evening in her home which was made attractive with ar rangements of mixed spring flow ers. Upon" arrival, guests were served delicious ice box nut cake, topped with whipped cream and a green cherry and coffee. At the conclusion of play scores were tallied with Mrs. Bonnie Tho mas receiving high score, an attrac tive artificial flower. Mrs. George Hopkins received second high, a pink linen handkerchief and Mrs. E. E. Jones received pink note station ary for traveling prize. Others attending were Mrs. V. A. Stancil, Mrs. J. D. Davis, Mrs. Mat tie Torrans and Mrs. Forest Martin. Mrs. O.S. Matthews Entertains Club Mrs. O. S. Matthews was hostess to her bridge club last Friday eve ning. The home was decorated with many lovely arrangements of spring flowers. Mrs. Mitchell Britt was high scor er and received a lovely bridge set and Mrs. George Clark received costume jewelry as second high prize. Local Pupils Enter Piano Contest The following piano pupils of Mrs. W. J. Baptist Church Has Cooperative Theme The Women's Missionary Society of the Baptist Church met last Mon day evening to take up the study of the Cooperative Program. The meeting was opened with the singing of "Jesus Shall Reign," fol lowed by the W.M.S. Watchword. Mrs. George Bennett, Secretary, read the minutes and took the cir cle count. Mrs G S. Best, who has recent ly attended the State WMS Con-' vention in Ashvilie gave tne nign lights of the meeting and told of some of the many interesting speak, ers on the program. During the business, over which Mrs Ellis West presided, it was vot ed on that the society would senJ twenty five dollars to the Baptist Hospital to be used in buying lin ens. Rankin and of his great love for missions.
